I took the plunge and bought a dodge (Chevy owner on all other vehicles ever owned). Price had a lot to do with it and also just trying something different. It's a crew cab shorty, well loaded up and white with grey at the bottom.
I haven't driven it that much yet but like it so far. Only two things that I kinda dislike are one it rides rougher than I expected, little choppy. The worst is the increase in engine rpm between shifts. I am finding that very hard to get use to, makes me feel nervous about slippage ( if a chevy increased rpm between shift it usually meant you were about to fix it ) and it seems to extend the shift longer than needed. The only other thing it has is a small clunk in the front end when turning sharp over pot holes on gravel roads or laneways, but no big deal.
I think the truck has the nicest interior of all three ( ford chev dodge ) and has a lot more room in the back and is a lot easier to get in and out of the rear also. The fuel mileage seems pretty good so far also, avg 16 mpg with mostly short drives. In perfect conditions, flat roads, no wind the instant goes way up into the twenties even at 60 mph. With alittle respect in the right foot I think I could avg close to 20 mpg over all. And although it feels slow because the engine pulls so linear it is not. It's just as quick a newer ford diesel.
Good so far.

Welcome to the forumz from Maine. The front end clunk might be sway bar bushings or end links. Pretty sure the trans shifts can be improved, not sure which trans you have, but lots of aftermarket stuff, valve bodies, etc. Hemituner has my 545RFE shifting nice and firm, also run a Sonnax line booster.

Funny how the Eco diesels will not crank over until the glow plugs go out, you turn the key to start right away and let go. The engine automatically cranks when the glow plug light goes out. On my cummins you can quickly turn the key to start and let go, it will continue to crank over until the engine is running. Like it has the programming for a push button start, but doesn't have the button. They made the two trucks opposite of each other.
