Just got home from the track, I'm fairly happy with my times. I raced with full weight and a full tank of gas. Best run was 14.3, I'm horrible at launching the truck. I spin all through first gear and some of second. I'm gonna practice and will be returning April 18 to hopefully make a 13 second pass! Mods are K&N CAI and Hooker MaxFlow muffler swap.

That's still a great time to be proud of. Stock 3rd gens are in the 15's and 16's.
Work on your reaction time, you would have a high 13 if you can get that down in the .500 area. A little advice, when you see the 3rd light come on go for it. Between your natural response time and the truck reacting you shouldn't red light it. If your wheels are spinning leave the TC on and avoid the water box in case you didn't last time. The water will still be in the grooves after a burnout and drip into your contact patch. Who were you up against that was a close race, good job

Reaction time has NOTHING to do with 1/4 times. You can sit there 5 min an still run the same time. How are u launching? U shouldn't be spinnin tht bad if u do a burnout. And don't leave TC on cause if u do spin a little it'll make it bog and result in a crappy time. I got an express an I even cut a 2.1 60ft so I know u can

How does you're reaction time have nothing to do with a 1/4 time? Serious question, I've gone to the track a couple of times but still very new to it all. I thought that reacting quicker to the tree would result in a better ET at the end, not just all about beating the other lane.

I suggested leaving TC on because the system won't kick in if there's a little wheel spin, but if he's spinning into second he needs to heat the tires up or consider getting a set of stickier rubber for the back the Goodyear's aren't all that great. I just figured with the LSD he shouldn't be spinning that hard from a launch. Always open to information this is one of those things I'm new to and am willing to learn from those of you who have more experience

Reaction time doesn't effect your ET because the clock doesn't start on Green, it starts when your front tire breaks the light beam in front of it.

a better reaction time can often win a race though, despite having a slower ET.

I've beat SRT8's, SRT10's and WRX STi's (all mid-low 13 second cars)
by catching them sleeping at the tree by up to 5 tenths.

WRX left lane 0.508 R/T, me right lane .036 R/T

By the time he caught my rear bumper at the finish line at 13.528
I've already crossed it at 13.928 because I left him at the tree by almost half a second

note the bottom of the slip, right lane 1st by .0724

I was racing my buddy with another R/T Ram. He was pissed!!! He smoked me before though so its all good. I was racing with tow/haul mode and TC off. I would just drop the hammer at take off and I tried easing into it but I ended up running slower.

Chefred come out on the 18th!!! 2006HEMI is going as well, He has a blue R/T from Yuba City, You may have seen him there before. I'm just gonna run stock tires but I will remove spare tire, tool kit, tail gate, and run on fumes! Hopefully I can run a 13.9999! I'm gonna see if any Lightnings will come out and play, They smoke us but it'll be fun none the less.

Yea let's hope for cool weather, I see your in Nor cal. If Sac Raceway isn't to far come out on the 18th! It's from 4 to 10, 15 bucks to race and 7 to watch.
We're supposed to take a turbo challenger up there to test/tune in the near future. I'm going to take it up there then. I'm about 2 hrs south.

Alright I just got home from the track and made four passes. I ran full weight with 1/3 tank of gas. First run was traction control off, I ran a 16.1 with a 3 second 60' time!!! That run I got sideways and couldn't stop spinning, I had 45 PSI in my tires. After that run I aired down to 30 PSI and ran two 14.6 passes with traction control on. Last run I stalled it at 1500 RPM and ran a 14.4 I really need to learn how to launch because I always break the tires loose on take off. Hopefully I can find some cheap 17's on Craigslist and buy some alicks or drag radials. Anyone recommend a good affordable tire?

I prefer a DOT street legal Drag Radial,
That way I can swap them at home and drive to the track

My Mickey Thompson ET Street DR's are 295/45R17's , cost me $199 ea (in Canada)
probably $50 cheaper in the U.S. if you shop around.

Half second quicker than my street tires on stock 20's
