I believe the "upgrade" is a slightly larger two bore throttle body...

It will give a slight performance increase, but not like back in the day when you put a big four barrel carb in place of a little two barrel carb.

It'll help, it's just not going to be a huge gain. Headwork is the best mod you could ever do usually. Smaller/simpler mods would be a good intake, headers, cam...

If I were you, I'd have some porting done, a valve job (maybe bigger valves) maybe up the compression (I assume it's fairly low), and put a cam in it with new valvetrain. If you know a machinist you can probably have everything done for like $1,000-$1,500. Sounds like a lot but if you know someone you can maybe get it all done cheaper. Do the labor yourself, it's not so hard. That money will go WAY farther performance wise than buying a TB for a few hundred, CAI for a few hundred, etc...

since the holes are just to regulate air flow and no additional fuel spray is done its really a useless upgrade on our trucks...your looking at it wrong, its not like going from a 2 to 4 barrel carburetor... the two larger holes will flow more air with less restriction... If you really want to be able to utilize the extra flow you need to address other things like the heads and exhaust and injectors...bosch "703 injectors are a nice upgrade to boost performance since they have a nice fine mist spray as opposed to our older style pencil type injectors that spray a jet of fuel and depend on the hot valve to vaporize it ... many claim 3-3 better mpg once this is done and the fuel sync is adjusted...

Augiedoggie is correct.. The tb on your truck right now is fine moving plently of air.. No need for bigger valves.. Just need to get that pump (your engine) working better.. Exhaust and injectors and cam is where you want to spend your money.. Don't forget new valve springs yours are worn out
