we have all felt the pain as the price at the pump has reached over $4 a gallon especially if we are running 91/93 octane tunes. Since gas has gotten retarded I have let of the pedal quite a bit and because of this am wondering if i should switch back to the 87 mileage tune on my superchips. Question is will switching back and forth between octanes like that even semi regularly cause any harm? I don't know if the engine being used to premium then getting regular will cause it to freak out and not run so hot.

I have done this myself and not seen any issues.
I'm going to look at a 2012 Honda Civic-si this week.
i have done it also with no issues ...but you will feel the difference in performance
As per your drivers manual, it will hurt performance............
Switching around octanes and tunes won't do any harm(as long as the tune matches the octane).
i've had nothing but problems with the 87 tune. i will not run it ever, i would sooner swap back to stock. my truck runs better on the stock tune with 87 than on the 87 tune.
x2

I've ran 94 octane (with my 93 tune) for longer than I can remember
First extended highway trip to save a few bucks went down to 89 on an 87 mileage tune and it was brutal!

From now on, Truck gets no less than 94 and I'll take the bike out more often when the weather permits to offset the cost of the good stuff.

My V-Twin VTX gets over 45 mpg on 87 octane.
Can run it all week for $10 vs $50 when I take the truck.

I put gas in my Ram Friday, today i had to go over the hills & across the desert floor 100 miles.
I was getting 23.3 MPG going down that last 13 mile hill
Going across the desert floor, i got 19.8 MPG
I use 89 octane

Guess what my friends, the gas that i filled up with must have been Summer Blend,
last month, the exact same trip, the best that the Ram did was 17.4 MPG across the desert

I don't bother looking at MPG coming back across, i had my sign up, acts like a wind brake
