got a friend you replaced his cam sensor and the truck (V8) won't run. It ran just after he installed it but the next day wouldn't run. He talked with a repair shop and they told him the computer needed to be reconfigured. Sounded bogus but wanted to see what the group thought.

I am with you on the bogus. I have never heard that a computer had to be reconfigured after a cam sensor change. What year truck and model? What engine.

Typically a cam sensor wont keep from running. The cam sensor tells ECM to change timing if needed and fuel. Crank sensor is the guy that sends signal to ECM to fire coils/plugs.
