Well it lasted 62,000 miles without any problems and that ended yesterday afternoon. I was Headin down the interstate doing about 78 and I hard this loud bang and the truck started shaking pretty rough I got it off the road and looked under the truck and my drive shaft had fallen out of the rear end the yoke and all. So i had to sit on the side of the interstate waiting for helo for about 2 hours.when we tried to get it on the truck with just the front tires pulling the rear end locked up on us. Had to get a winch to pull it on there it was a mess. Called dosge today and Turns out there was a recall on the nut holding the yoke together. Thankfully dodge is gonna cover it. Anybody else had something like this happen?

Oh yes. You are one of the MANY cases.

This has been all over the forum for the past year. I've had two Ram's that have had the recall done on them. One got a full rebuild and another just got a patch.

the Recall was done for the 2009/10 Ram trucks, which had a AAM 9.25 Rear Differential
The dealership or Dodge should have notified if you are the Original Owner or a 2nd owner that had registered with Dodge about the change in Ownership

In 2011 Ram models, they changed over to a ZF Rear Differential
whether they still had issues or not, i don't know

You can always check for things like that at http://www.nhtsa.gov/ Complaints & Recalls

Man glad to hear your ok. But I just noticed your stated "Age" of 17? You've got 62000 miles on your 2010 Laramie so am I thinking you got this truck brand new at age 13? I know back in my day, I had a temporary drivers license at age 13 and got my actual license at 16. Just highly impressed with you getting your truck to 62K before a problem occurred.

Well I didn't get it brand new it was my great grandpa's. It had about 40 on it when I started driving it when I turned 16. But yes it is the first problem it's had. I'm surprised the pinion nut lasted that long before it broke. But we too took it the the dealer today. We asked them if they wanted to look at it on the gooseneck or unload it. They told us to unload it even though the rear end was locked up so we said ok it's yall problem. It was poping and making all kinda noise. But we got it off the trailer. It will be something to watch them put it in the shop. They are gonna start on it tomorrow.

I actually got two letters about it and the recall notice. Originally mine wasn't in the recall because it was such an early 2009 build but then they expanded it to all 2009's, 10's and 11's I believe.

Recalls for the most part are for safety issues, never ignore them.
