as a replacement in their Alpine 9 speaker system? I replaced the three front factory speakers with JBL Club3020's and really like the sound. No I'm thinking of maybe upgrading the sub that's under the back passenger seat. Any thoughts?

Are you thinking of removing the Alpine sub from it's enclosure and trying to fit the new sub in that enclosure?
The enclosure, subwoofer, and amplifier were optimized and designed as a package so changing any of them and expecting an improvement is not feasible no matter what people say.
Many have reinforced the enclosure and put in a better performing 8" along with an external amplifier, the OEM sub and amp are trash.
