Depends where you live. You might love them for a short while but they become a PITA to alot of ppl I spoke to as I really was THINKING about them. First off they malfunction. Picture yourself driving down the highway one up the other one down. They need to oiled on a regualr basis. They AREN'T covered under warranty and are expensive to fix. if you live ina winter climate area it will be a matter of time till you have problems with them is what I was told by many ppl. My two cents get a nice set or running boards/bars.

There are lots of guys on the forum using them. Go with AMP Research as they are the best on the market. I have them on my truck and am very happy with them.

What Cserebogar said is not correct either. I have never had one issue with them not working correctly or not retracting, never have had to oil them yet, and they are covered under AMP's 5 year warranty. I do clean mine every time I wash the truck to keep the dirt and road silt out of the brackets/hinges and will be putting a good lubricant on them before winter. But I don't expect to have any problems with them any time soon.

I too have AMP boards and have had no problems with them at all. I know there are other makes that attempted to copy AMP's design, however used lesser quality components and I believe that's where the complaints come in from.

You cannot even begin to compare the AMP steps to any modern running board. They are apples and oranges. The closest you'd be able to compare is a stirrup step, however they lack the retracting ability and thus decrease ground clearance. Go with AMP and you will not be disappointed.

The only thing that i have read about the AMP product, is that the person that does the installation, did not read the instructions

I have read about the courtesy light not working or using the wrong fuse/connection to power the AMP steps.
Read the instruction sheet & ask questions when needed OR have someone that is competant do the work

Amp has two part #'s out now. One that needs wired in (second digit in P/N is a 5) and one that is plug-n-play through the OBD port (second digit is a 6). I actually just ordered mine today. I normally hate the look of running boards and think they distract from the truck's lines. However, I managed to completely blow out the crotch on my pants jumping up in the truck yesterday; and the girlfriend says her arm is sore from jumping to grab the handle. Another huge advantage with the retraction is that they do not get cluttered up in mud and snow. I have had to literally cut rusty step rails off some of my work steps.

If you order them, which I really wanted on my truck but ended up with factory installed steps. then go with AutoAnything and use the Ramforumz 16% discount, Should bring the price down to $965 and that includes free shipping

Here is the Autoanything discount instructions. If it doesn't work right just wait online for a chat window and tell them what you are doing, I always get a great price and discount from them.

They will usually beat the 16% discount if you call in and negotiate on the prices. I just succeeded in getting a set of Lund nerf bars for my truck for about 30% off what they advertised - and they went below the next cheapest vendor for them (Amazon) by 20%. The salesmen earn commissions!

you mean to tell me the plug and play is finally available for the RAM? I called AMP research last month about the plugnplay and was told it would be another 3 months or so for them to come out... I've been waiting 3 months to order these with the plug n play since I will be installing them.

I couldnt find the plug and play type. Would it be possible to get a link?

Edit: I found the link http://www.electricstep.com/AMP-Res...HD-2013-2014-NEW-Plug-N-Play-p418.htm#details
