Having trouble changing spark plug on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.9L. The left bank went smooth however the passenger side the socket goes in fine until a certain point. Then it just seems like there is not enough space between the plug and the heat shield for my socket to go in. So basically I can't even loosen the plug. When I put a flat head in between the plug and the heat shield it seems like the heat shield is bent in but I'm not 100% sure on that. I can't remove the heat shield, I'm not even sure if that's something that can be removed. Has anyone else had this trouble? Is there any special tool I need to use?

Thank you,

Wally

Put a pair of vice grips on the tube and wiggle it out of the hole. Then the socket will fit.

If you have a cell phone, and some light. Take a video and watch it. it's a lot easier gettin a camera down in there to see what's stoppin you than your head.
