i am looking to replace my heater core i believe there is a leak in is somewhere my windshield gets foggy with the truck at full operating temp heat all the way on blower motor on high and defrost and the side windows get a lot of condensation on them so basically im driving like this . it takes a while for the heat to begin coming from the vents and it is not HOT its just kinda warm until its been running for a LONG time i have looked into a Chilton and it says i have to drain the A/C system and remove the lines! is this true and is there any EASIER way to do it or any helpful pointers so i can make this SEMI easy  thanks in advance

In order to change the heater core you will need to remove the entire heater box from the truck. The heater box includes the A/C evaporater so you will need to remove the A/C charge and remove the high and low pressure lines going into the evaporator at the firewall. I did this once on an 89 Caravan, it's a big job but doable if you take your time. You will need to take it somewhere when your done to recharge your A/C.

It is quite a treat to see your truck all taken apart. Also a treat once the jobs done and for only 1/2 the cost of a shop doing it.
