I have a 13' ram 1500 CC with 73k milles on it already. i was wondering what was the life span for these trucks? i still owe 3 years on the truck and was thinking by the time i get it paid off will it be wore out to where i need to go and trade. been debating on whether or not to get me a diesel cause 200k miles on them is nothing. if i perform the proper maintenance can i get close to 150k miles without major problems like replacing the engine?

There are multiple members here with well over 200,000 miles on their Rams. One guy had 350,000 miles on his 2009 Hemi 1500 when he bought a new Ecodiesel earlier this year to go with it.

I have 60,000 miles as of last week and I expect at least 300,000 before anything other than routine maintenance will need to be done.

My uncle has a 2002 1500 4.7L with 300,000+ on it.

There is no reason that most modern vehicles should not go 250k with routine maintenance. Some will say otherwise, but those are the kind of people who think its time to trade when long term wear items like wheel bearings are due

I just sold my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Laramie 4x4 with the Hemi. I bought it new with 8 miles on it and just sold it with 227k miles. I started putting Synthetic oil in at 10k miles and changed the oil every 4500 miles. I never had an issue with the truck - thats why I just bought another Ram. FYI... As far as resale - I sold the truck with 227k miles for $11,000. It was in perfect condition and never off road or in an accident. Great truck !!!

I had 210,000 on my 08 1500 when I got rid of it to buy my new 2500. Still ran great just wanted a new truck, with good care and service 300,000 is not out of the question.

101,000 miles and my buddy's HEMI bit the dust...interesting considering the 100,000 mile warranty.

We both have '13 CC 1500 4x4's.

Aside from that failure, neither of us had any mechanical issues.

What was the specific issue? Was he able to get a good faith repair?

What major mechanical issue made him decide not to repair the truck? My vehicles tend to need a major repair around 200,000 equal to the down payment on a new one. Just once I would like to get 300,000 miles out of one of my cars.

The top end was knocking but after research, we thought it was the classic exhaust manifold bolt issue because it was intermittent. Something came apart in the drivetrain and once they got into the long block, it was too late.

On the flip side, he opted for the MaxCare warranty so $100 later, and he will be set with a fresh engine.

My Ram was flawless mechanically for 45k. My father's RAM V6 spends its days towing a goose neck travel trailer all over the US and Canada without incident other than one sensor in 50k miles.

So, overall, I think they are darn good trucks. I am trying to get into a '17 2500 this summer and will be buying the MaxCare warranty as I plan on keeping it for 15+ years.

I own a 98 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport with over 200,000 on it.

Up until last year I had a 89 Dodge Ram Charger with over 230k, also had to get rid of it because it sat for too long and the wiring was gonna cost too much to replace.

A well maintained Hemi will go well over 200k

Yes shows with proper care these trucks can last pretty much as long as you want to keep it. My 13 will be 5 years old in July. I plan on keeping mine another 5 at least maybe more. I see a 2018 Cadillac XTS V Platinum in the near future though.

I put 800 to 1000 miles a week on my 2015 5.7 and I have 99000 on it, so for no major problems. On the 2002 ram I put 200000 on it before I traded it in.The gmc and ford that I bought was not as lucky. If you do your regular maintenance on it you should get a lot of miles on it.The fords motor was strong but the body was having problems, the gmc was the motor.

I have 145,000 on my ‘13. Just standard maintenance so far!
I'd say that's pretty high mileage for a 5 year old truck; about 29k a year. I put 24,000 on mine one year but less than 7000 last year because I was deployed.

IIRC there was a guy here with 340,000 or so on his 09 who lived in Lawton.

I had a 2 years with about 60k per year. Working in TN driving to OK for weekends home. This truck made those miles bearable! Air ride suspension, heated and ventilated seats and satellite radio made all the difference.
