I have a 2019 and just turned 2000 miles , it seams when I break but don't completely stop and then step on the gas again, it slams into gear. If that's just a characteristic then it sucks! Has anyone else experienced this too?

After picking up my 19 today, I do not feel this like I did in an 18 (owned and another test driven).

In an 18, its much more pronounced. In an 19, its so subtle you hardly notice it.
the 19 tranny shifts so much more smoothly than the 18.

Well guys, there is something going on here. I have had my 19 Laramie Longhorn for under two weeks and I can tell you on a few occasions I have experienced this issue. I thought it might be the accident prevention software but??? An earlier post of the torque converter might be valid but this is 2018/19 and this should not be an issue, plain and simple!! Come on for crying out loud.

Almost wish we could all meetup and drive each others trucks. I really think to some extent this is a matter of expectations. I've owned 3 Rams and in my opinion none of them could be described as "smooth" in terms of shifting. That said, it was never an issue in my mind before I joined this forum. Before I started reading peoples post about issues shifting I just though "it shifts like a truck".

my 19 feels like getting bumped from rear when slowing down at times.
Hi everyone,
I understand why this would be frustrating. If you decide to have your dealers look into this, you may also send us a private message if you would like some extra assistance while your trucks are at the dealers.

I have the 19 5.7 w/etorque and man oh man the shifting has to be the smoothest upshiftin on the market. Even down shifting is amazing.

I know my '14 had a really hard shift when cold along with a lag as it slammed into gear. Haven't had the '19 long enough (only 1 hour on the engine meter) to tell.
As for the slowing/off gas/on gas trans jerk like at a red light just turned green, the '14 did that as well.

I am having the same issue. I just bought a new 2019 crew and when coming to a stop the trans lags in downshifting and you can feel it bump. Haven't has the chance to get to the dealer yet but its annoying.

I've had my 19 4x2 QuadCab Bighorn for just over a week. Took it up to Las Vegas (from LA) this last weekend. 2 or 3 times when slowly coming to a stop in a parking space, I felt and heard something like a thud or clunk along with a slight lurch.
It doesn't do it every time, but it is very noticeable when it does. I'm hoping since the truck is still new, it will "learn" some more and stop doing it. From reading some of these comments, maybe I won't be so lucky. I have around 500 miles on it right now.

About to turn 6k and that rough 1,2 shift is still there in stop and go traffic. I don't think its a tranny "learning" issue. If you are on the gas a little and then lift your foot off, before you get to the brake there is a little bump and nudge feeling. Happens when I get to about 5mph in traffic and then get off the gas. Like I said before I had a similar issue in my 14 so I guess it is what it is.

My 2019, is slow to engage the transmission, has acted up 4 times in 1200 miles, put it in gear and the transmission is slow to engage, did it when it was 1 day old, going back to dealer next week.

Mines at a hair under 3000 miles and for the most part its very smooth. It seems to "hiccup" in traffic where its trying to find a gear at like 5-10 mph. Kind of annoying.

Mine too...wish RAM would just admit something is defective and recall this issue.

This is a defect, should not be happening in a new truck. Why is there not a recall issued for this well known problem?

Did they find the problem for you, so tired of the dealership runaround. RAM needs to admit this is a defect and needs to do a recall.

Any resolution been found yet?

How do we send a private message and get this escalated? Too many 2019 RAM owners with this same issue.

I am having the same issue. I just bought a new 2019 crew and when coming to a stop the trans lags in downshifting and you can feel it bump. Haven't has the chance to get to the dealer yet but its annoying.
Have they found a fix for you? This is so annoying.

Lydia, how do we get you guys involved to help with this known widespread issue?

It is an issue, RAM should step up and resolve this widespread issue. So annoying and for a 50k truck, unreal.

I have 200 miles on my Limited. The downshift on mine seems to between 2-1. Like you said when coasting to a stop or under light braking. Mine isn't subtle though. It's awful. So far worst transmission issue I've ever had in a vehicle. I thought my 2015 GM was rough shifting.
Have they found a fix for you? Mine doing same thing, so annoying.

Has RAM found a resolution for this defect in the new 2019 RAM 1500 transmissions?

Yep. 2019 hemi without etorque. If you coast into a stop and accelerate without stopping completely, it jumps down into first gear and hard accelerates. Annoying but I guess the nature of the beast.

Another thread is saying that some folks are getting their driveshaft replaced, which is fixing this obvious widespread issue. Fingers crossed this is the resolution.
