I want to lower my 2003 Ram 1500 standard cab, short bed. I have 20" rims and bought new tires. The low profile tires I got with the rims were Z rated and gave for a terrible ride. So I put the biggest tires I could fit under wheel well. As it is when I am backing out and turning sharp the tire rubs the inner wheel well. That being said. Can I still lower the the truck? Or will the rubbing become even worse? I am not against trimming out some of the liner to make room if I have to.
Next, I want to improve the "ride". Not to sharp not to soft. I put 4 new shocks on the truck maybe 6 months ago. So between the shocks and the fatter/taller tire the "ride" is pretty good. Aside for the body-roll in corners. I see a ton of lowering kits from $80.00 for a couple parts to $1000.00 for all kinds of parts. Some with shocks some without some with "high performance" shocks. What do I actually need to lower the truck and improve the "ride". And will I need new shocks even though mine are new. I see flip kits, hangers, bump stops, shock extenders ect. ect. I am thinking between 1"-2" front and like 4"-5" in the rear.
Thanks. I appreciate any advice/wisdom in the matter.
