How many Key Fobs came with your RAM?

I just purchased a 2010 RAM (1500 SLT) used (Lease return) with only 16k miles on it. (4.7L 310 hp)

However, there was only one key FOB and the dealer is telling me only 1 came with the truck. I find that hard to believe.

Also, what is the purpose of the std. key? It seems to do nothing. (won't start the truck) - only the Key FOB will start the truck which is kind of a PITA when you have only one FOB. There is another key embedded inside the FOB which as you know you can pull out, but this one seems to have no purpose either as it doesn't do anything.

I think I'm owed another FOB but the dealer (not a Dodge dealer) has dug in his heels.

that sucks:smiledown: 2 fobs doorlock tailgate and not sure glovebox.
2 fobs with mine.
(2) fobs and (1) valet key. Dealer owes you another key fob IMHO
Sounds like they only got one fob from the previous owner.

The small key in fob is for a dead battery emergency to get in the truck and open the hood. It also works on the tailgate but it is hard to hold on to.

I upgraded with the remote start and it came with 2 key fobs in the kit.

Since my truck is a base truck came with only two standard keys with the chip inside. One of these keys now stays in my pocket case I loose my fob and for the tailgate.
I also got two with my truck. Like others have said, the regular key and the key inside the fob unlock the drivers door and the tailgate.
2 fob's..........
Thanks everyone!!

I thought it was very odd to only have one device to start the truck. Obviously the dealer only got one FOB at tradein/Lease return. I will pursue with the selling dealer, but am not hopeful unless I'm successful in playing the "customer goodwill" card (which often works). I got a pretty good deal on the truck tho ($21k) with only 16,500 miles on it and they gave me book value for my old '97 Ram and most of all, took it off my hands. Looks, smells, feels and drives like a new one.
At first, I only got one fob for my used truck. But a couple months later my brother went to get a truck at the same dealership and they gave him another fob for my truck...
Bought my 2010 ram used (1 year old) from a dodge dealer and I recieved 2 keyfobs(with key inside) and 2 regular keys. The regular keys are to lock/unlock the tailgate, and can also be used for the doors. The key inside the keyfob is so you can get into the truck if the battery in the keyfob dies.
What's a new key fob cost?

Again, thanks to all who replied to the original question.

For those of you who have purchased an addt'l fob, what can you tell me about cost?

It's also been suggested to me that since there's a rogue key fob for my truck running around loose someplace (in the city of Houston) that when buying an addt'l fob that I should have the dealer erase & reprogram from scratch, thus disabling the unaccounted-for fob.

Again, cost?
Wouldn't that process also require issuance of 2 new fobs, since as I've also been told that you cannot reprogram an existing one?

I've also been told that to have an additional fob made that I will need a PIN number that originally came with the vehicle when new? Okay, well I don't have it. Now what?

When you program new keys it deletes old keys from the system. The old keys will no longer unlock the truck but they will still start it.
I work at a dodge dealer and i believe that you can have either 6 or 8 key fobs programmed to one vehicle at the same time. ALL BRAND NEW vehicles come with two key fobs and two regular keys as well that will allow you to open the door on the drivers side.
I just bought my (new) 2011 RAM today and it came with 2 fobs. Already I've learned something here though cause I had no idea there was a key inside? Dealer didn't show me. Also didn't know the fob starts the truck - tried to drive off from dealer using the other keys - felt like a doofus!

On my previous truck - a F150, I bought used and it only came with one fob, I found an outfit called Street Keys (www.streetkeys.com) and was able to buy additional programmable fobs from them for reasonable cost.
Wow i got 3 plus 2 extra keys for door and tail

Also lowers the windows but think that was removed on 2012
They owe you a FOB. Period.
2 FOBs both with a Valet key inside the FOBs, came with my Ram

In December i misplaced 1 of the FOBs, i had hidden it away in the Ram, because i was going on a 7,000 mile trip & no one was at my place to express mail me the spare if needed

When i returned from the trip, i couldn't locate the spare Fob, so i went to the dealership & ordered a 3rd FOB, knowing that sooner or later the 2nd FOB would be found.
The Parts Dept, looked up the parts number, it turns out that there are 2 different numbers, both for mine & i believe every other 4th Gen Ram, the reason for the difference is the outside case of the FOBs, 1 has the word RAM on it, the 2nd has the word DODGE on it. Believe it or not, there is about a $40 difference in the price

By the way, all 3 of my FOBs work , yes i found the missing spare
I still have the usual issue of the 3 FOBs UNlocking the doors when they feel like it

the parts package reads
1500 4x2 4dc written in marker

I also picked up my new to me 2010 Ram yesterday and received only one Fob and the regular key for the door and tail gate. The dealer failed to tell me this prior to the sale, I just assumed it would come with 2 seeing every other car/truck I've bought came with 2. So I went right back in the dealer before I even left the lot and put up a decent stink about it and they "claim" they'll get me a second fob. I asked them how many the truck came with new and they said 2, I said, well then I want 2 keys. We'll see what happens but they claim I'll get a 2nd key so I'm holding them to it.

Oh and by the way, the dealer even told me it's $300 for a new fob, just an FYI.
