I just purchased a 2010 1500 ST Crew Cab with 4.7L. I like the truck a lot. It did not come with RKE, and of course the local dealer told me it was not possible to add it, but thanks to the info I gleaned from this forum, I was able to not only help them through enabling the RKE, but had them install a Remote Start kit in the process.
They were NOT able to figure out how to disable the double-honk on remote start feature. I REALLY want to disable this, it will keep me from using the remote start when I otherwise would.
Disabling the horn on lock/unlock was easy, it's explained in the manual, but nothing on disabling it for remote start. I don't have an EVIC, so nothing to try there. I read elsewhere in this forum about snipping a green/violet wire that runs from the WIN to a plug somewhere at the base of the steering column, but I think that instruction was for a 2007 model, and I don't have a green/violet wire coming from the WIN.
I do not want to disable the horn itself. I've read that the remote start only honks one of two horns, so I was going to determine which one and disconnect it (and probably connect it to the other horn, so I'd still have both when I want to ... you know ... use the horn. :158
, but in fact the remote start toots both horns, so there's no joy there, either.
I'm back to square one, hoping someone might be able to either a) guide me to the correct wire to snip on MY truck, or b) provide a specific instruction I can pass along to the dealership.
By the way, this forum rocks.:smileup::smileup::smileup:
Thanks,
Steven
