As the 2014 Laramie Limited has no locking glove box I want to bolt down a lock box in the deep storage portion of the center console under the lid Rather than using self taping screws, I want to bolt the lock box in. I tried to remove the plastic lower portion by removing the four screws. Still in tight. Is there something more holding the plastic in? Should I use self taping screws (as a last resort) what is under it? Thanks for your help!

Just wondering what would you need this for? If someone wants to take it can't they just rip the whole thing out?

Maybe if they're a contortionist bodybuilder. If they want it that bad, it'd be easier just to steal the truck.

Thanks everyone! My lock box fits snugly in the bottom of the storage area.
One cannot get a grip to rip it out if it can be secured. It would be a
closer reach than the glovebox and I need to secure my firearm from my kids.

I went to the dealership today to find out how to remove the lower portion of the storage. Service referred me to parts. Parts looked up the center console and their schematic did not show anything... other than a part number. I am not going to take a chance putting a screw through the bottom without knowing what is underneath. I surely hope I do not need service on the rear seat heater switches as the service department won't know how to get them out! I will be investing in the vehicle vault!

Teach your kids firearm`s safety...! By the way, i hope you dont expect to get to that pistol in a hurry. Better off buying a holster and carrying it.

I've had mine out. The 4 screws inside are to release the sides of the console. The only thing under the box is a wiring harness that plugged in under the seat. It's all plastic an will not be very sturdy for screws. The inside box is molded to the console.

@mrolow I just ordered the same from ram lockboxes off eBay. Thank you for your post.
@rambunkshuss Autistic children do not learn firearm safety well. Yes, I do carry in a holster but need the option to secure. Thank you for your suggestions.
