I installed aftermarket wheels on my truck in January, since then it has always had a slight vibration while driving over 60mph. I had them balanced several times with no change. Last week I installed a set of hubcentric rings that I ordered from Jegs and the vibration is finally gone! This weekend I had a chance to get it on the interstate and even at 80 it was smooth as silk.

Yeah, when I was researching after market rims for my previous vehicle, I read lots of horror stories about leaving the rims lug centric. I vowed to never run after markets without the hub centric spacers.

Motorsport-tech is pricey but they make great ones. You just input your truck and the bore on the aftermarket wheel bore. My friend for a set the were well made and helped him out and you can also get them with a spacer to add a few mm if you want a little wider of a tire.

I just need spacers for my stock wheels, do they need those measurements as well? How do I find the stock bore number?

Email Lenny and Motorsport Tech. He will know all the specs for your truck and wheels and get the ball rolling for you.

Thanks for the info. I just had new wheels / tires put on also and have a vibration. Wheels are supposed to be lug centric but they've balanced them twice now and still haven't fixed the vibration. Looks like I'm going to have to have custom rings machined.

I was looking at the Rough Country 1/4" spacers, the drilled bolt pattern looks more like a universal. The holes are slotted, not perfectly drilled. Does anyone make a 1/4" 5 x 5.5 in a non slotted? I looked at jegs and summit...

Motorsport Tech

The universal ones are fine. The stock wheels center up on the tapered lugs, 1/4" spacers don't weight anything. I bought cheap e-bay spacers and they spin perfect.
The weight of the spacers has nothing to do with it. The point is that you want the weight of the truck being supported by the hub rather than the studs. Having them supported on the studs does give the potential for vibration issues (not everyone will have it) but they will definitely wear out the hub bearings faster because of the type of loading on them. Hub centric are the way to go if you want the best setup and to have things last longer.
