you could tap it off the back of the sigaret lighter socket. (the one that works with your key, not the battery). that way the lights go on when the truck is on. i hotwired my gps that way, running the wire behind the radio bezel to give it a clean look. and charging it when the engine runs and not drain the battery when the engine doesnt run.
