I have just ordered the OEM tailgate latch w/ camera setup from a dealer online. My curiosity is... when I was installing the Lockpick v4 I noticed all of the input/output receptacles were utilized. Now I realize I can install the camera to the lockpick but I would prefer to use the factory setup in order to save the inputs on the lockpick for other devices in the future.

Anyone have pics of the back of the radio with reference to where the camera cable actually attaches to? I have the RER w/ Nav setup and Dodge claims that this is camera ready. I'm not trying to pay the dealer the price of the camera once over again for installation. It's not rocket science, just trying to line up my ducks. :)

Thanks for any input you can give.

Thanks.

Do a search for backup cam, there are quite a few threads that explain the install. I have read most of them & decided to go aftermarket camera with my Lockpick because it was easier & cheaper.

Much easier to hook up to lockpick and you can contrrol the camera meaning you can put it on whenever not just when in reverse, say someone is on your ass and you want his plate provided he has one you can read the plate or whatever you might want to look at back there without turning your head.

When the Mopar OEM camera arrives, the package has an install CD in it

I ordered the tailgate handle with the locking mechanism & the camera
Mine didn't have a locking tailgate when i bought it & i wanted one
Light fingered people were removing tailgates & tail lights back then

Installed the camera on the truck the other weekend. I decided to bypass the TIPM by using the RevCamera 12V wire and the ground wire from the Lockpick. I tapped into the wires on the harness for the LockPick for the signal to/from the radio.

Picked it up from the dealership today for $89.00 to flash the TIPM. Ridiculous money for 5 minutes of actual work and then waiting on the computer... but whatever. Everything works as promised by LockPick.

Awesome!

Why did you need to bypass or flash the TIPM with the lockpick installed? I thought the reason for having the lockpick was so you didn't have to flash anything?

That's true for aftermarket stuff, but the OEM camera will not work unless the TIPM tells the radio it's there. I bought the lockpick to unlock the soft Nav buttons and so my daughter can watch DVDs on road trips. Everything else is gravy. :)

had my oem camera hooked up to a lockpicked 730 unit and didn't remember to tell them to power the unit off the lockpick, so I can't see the rear when in drive. Installer is going to make that switch when I bring it back in. When they swtich the power source, I'll be able to use the rear camera button on the head unit to watch people pick their noses at stoplights. :) yes you do need to have the starscan turn it on to tell the radio that they camera is there if you upgraded from the base level radio. I like the oem camera but thinking I should get another camera - where to point it and locate it?
