Well i finally did it! Was so tired of wanting more power and MPG that i went ahead and gave myself a Christmas present and bought it ! I will update on performance an MPG as the computer learns. So far i did find my stock intake had a mildly blown plenum gasket and numerous coolant leaks. all fixed and only issue i had with the install was the fuel rails and the guts to cut the crossover tube as it came with a hard plastic on and could not get it to fit si I installed 100 psi rubber fuel line instead. Took it out today and only issue was my TV cable needed adjustment as it was shifting really late and downshift with pedal almost to the floor which i didnt like. will post pictures once daughter loads them. Ha ha laugh it up i know. today my scan gage said a change from 10MPG to 13 today and the truck runs really smooth and quiet. except my exhaust note is just mean now!!!

Raped ape comes to mind

well the talk is correct my gas milage after putting around 100 miles on it is definitly going up as i filled up today and per my scan gage and my android ap i went from 8.92MPG to 11.95 and getting better the more i run it. Put on my MP valve covers today and re adjusted my TV cable today also just not happy with the early and soft shifts. but today on the highway here in san diego i had to put my foot in her and she let me know she wanted to go and bad WOW my seat of the pants dyno was rockin. No leaks so far and my idle just keeps getting better. starts first click I say BEEP BBEEP BEEP to all the naysayers on this inatake it rocks and am really impressed and am a believer. Next mod is get rid of my MSD old style for the new digital box and wires. more to come later with pics.

Is the intake the only engine mod or did you have to combine it with others. Rumor has it the intake will not be at its full potential without a cam change? Also...where are the pics?

well to answer a few questions the only list of mods i have are as follows ( MSD box, e-3 plugs, msd wires, headers, 4.56 rear gearsand locker with superlift speedo correcter, 3.5 in exhaust with aero turbine muffler, high flow cat, TPS adjusted to .9 volts, ramzilla tranny, F&B 52 mm TB, 315 x17 tires, hypertech tuner , 180 deg thermostat, fan delete with dual electric16in fans, becool 2 row aluminum radiatior with spal PWM controller, no cam change at all only some harland sharpe 1.6 rollers. but a lot of people complain about it not sure why but i have one bad fast and fun to drive 1500 as of today am averaging around 11.5 to 12 MPG which is quite a bit better than my normal prior to this of 8.5 to 9 MPG so am more than happy as the price of gas out here is now at 4.15 a gallon. soory no pictures yet! commin soon

had an issue with popping thru the intake and went thru all sorts of trouble shooting and come to find out my fuel sync was set at -6-8 so bought a snapon mt2500 and set it with my son on my side and put it at +2 or so and wow so much better now and runs even smoother and clean so i put my 92 octane tune hypertech back in and she is alive and ready to own the hwy again. that scanner is worth its weight in gold for anyone with these trucks can see so much, an fix before anything breaks!!! bought it on ebay for 250 and ordered a 13a personality chip and works awesome!

been a while but intake still kickin butt with no issues am averaging around 12-14 MPG depending on keeping my foot out of her. Raced it at the racelegal event at quallcomm stadium and 1/8 mile time dropped significantly and shamed a couple mustangs and foreign trucks. this intake is all that and a box of rocks. if you are skeptical or on the fence you wont be disappointed!

wow it increased your mpg that much?!? i thought it was just for performance and not mpg increases!
how does your superlift speedo corrector work? does it connect to the front wheel abs system to change speedo? i have the superchips programmer but it wont allow me to change my speedo cause it says no abs module present... so no idea how to correct my speedo, im also running 315 on 17 rim

im getting 10-11 mpg now, wonder what i would get with that!

the superlift speedo corrector connects to your transmission speed sensor output with two wires and than I set it with a gps and now it shifts beautifully and gas mileage back. be aware with the intake that I have a lot of other things with it that all help and using my scan gage to teach me to drive better too. but yes the intake was a huge improvement and works well . for the speedo corrector just use google and search for superlift speedo corrector and will take you there believe it was only 59 or so dollars.

have had some new issues lately with the running but am slowly tracking it down go from one week running great next week sucks. Well what I have found out is the intake needs re-torqueing every now and then. and finally just put a new intake gasket on and good again but also did some other adjustments to TPS voltage and min rpm for IAC counts and now is hesitating from a stop and also misses and bucks every now and then. so will be putting my new cat on and full tune up have not replaced cap/rotor since I put the new engine in last year. did a trip to Santa Barbara few weeks ago and calculated gas mileage was 13.8 for the whole trip. Lastly just smogged with the Hughes intake on and no issues.

first and foremost gas mileage claims(all true averaging 13MPG here in California) then I wanted something in a dual plane format not a single plane as with the M1. when I was young I had driven an old dodge diplomat with and old skool 360 with a dual plane and it was a ripen engine. and with the Hughes I get dual plane , injector angle change , more flow, and just seemed to have a whole lot of people designing and putting into production. so long story short I love my intake and at the drag strip she holds her own now and dropped my times by almost 4 tenths on the eighth mile on my lifted truck pushing 35's.

Im going to do this intake also
Im hoping to get good results with my brute force intake
4.56 gears
sct tuner by hemiver
2200 stall converter and my high flow cat

Ive heard alot of good things about it and one guy said that his truck has "never felt like this since the day he bought it new"

for 599.99 its expensive, but every review i read people just love it!

I cant wait...should wake up my truck some

so finally I got my rough idle fixed and feel so stupid. granted my vacuum leak didn't help maters much but was looking at old "SpeedTweaks papers and saw something about MSD and rough idle and it stated that I needed a tach adapter MSD 8910 to fix the injector/spark trigger signal and sure enough installed it and vioala smoothe as silk again and Power on demand baby bring on those mustangs!!!!

What does a dual plane do different on a FI engine?

On my local Dyno jet my numbers for torque and HP have changed because from contrary to popular belief it makes a diff in and I understand ur angle here is the cylinders still fire in their specified firing order so you have pulses and port velocity changes with a dual plane as the volume is different and also each port velocity changes just like on a carbureted engine. wow hope that made sense. But also years ago I had a friends M1 that just seemed to fall on its face on my truck and now that I have the Hughes all I can say is huge diff. But mostly the different injector angle is another bonus as it shoots straight into the port unlike the stock intake and the M1.
