Last weekend I installed the K&N 77-1561KP Intake System. During the process I over-tightened the 1/4" NPT Vent Fitting and basically destroyed it. It didn't completely snap so I went ahead and attached the crankcase vent tube and completed the installation. The Vent Fitting is cracked though and not sealed.

My question is: Until I get a replacement fitting is this causing any harm or loss of power or any other beneficial effect of the Intake System itself?

I haven't noticed any significant increase in power or improved fuel efficiency so far. Then again, it hasn't even been a week and very few highway miles so far.

Thanks!

the reason you are not seeing any mpg or power gains is because new cai intakes do no longer produce any real gains on these high tech engines. rams stock intake has been known to be very efficient. most on here seem to enjoy the increased sound from the engine. i would replace that fitting as quick as i could because i don't know if it would be hurting anything.
