My third brake light went this week and i thought "what a great time to change the lights out for LED's".

When i popped the third brake light cover, the brake bulb had a hole in it at the top...obvisouly why it wasn't working.

SO...i changed out all three bulbs in the thirb brake light lens for LED's.

When i had the wife push the brake pedal to test the lights, the none of the brake lights would come on (yes i checked the polarity of the LED bulb).

To my surprise, once the ignition was turned on, the brake lights worked...WTF??

do the brake lights on these rigs only work when the ignition is on, or am I having some sort of issue?

never really paid attention to it before, but now i'm curious!

yeah i had never heard of it so that is why i asked...i suppose when i think about there is no real need for the brake lights to illuminate without the power being on, but this is the first vehicle in the dozens iv'e owned that i noticed it. now that curiosity has the better of me again, i think ill go check my wife's highlander and a couple of the 2012 vehicles in our fleet at work and see whether it is specific to the dodge line-up or not.
