I hit 11,111 miles on my ram today. Not too bad for owning it for 20 months. So to celebrate i ordered the JBA short tube headers. I also ordered 2 14" magnaflow mufflers, 2 Magnaflow Cats, a Magnaflow X pipe, and 4" Magnaflow tips. If anyone is interested i can try to post a video of the sound after its all installed. It will probably be a month or so because the headers aren't going to ship for 10 days.

Congrats on the big purchase!!

IDK if the cats are going to be worht it though and arent the Magnaflow cats kinda expensive?? Maybe just run catless and look into a tuner to turn off the CEL. Especially in MI where there arent emissions checks.

Def post pics though when all your boxes get there!

I never really thought about going catless. Is that something the Diablo InTune would be able to do? Next set of mods are going to be an InTune, Fastman TB, a catch can, and possibly a 180 Tstat.

I was reading the great lakes region page for a little bit the other day. hopefully there is a Michigan meet up this summer. i live down in Monroe:smiledown: and would love to check out some other Rams.

Those look great. Hmm added to my wish list I'd love to see them installed!
Once they ship, and i get them ceramic coated and installed it will get pictures up asap

Just curious, why order 2 mufflers vs 1 with dual in/out? I ordered the MagnaFlow dual in/out and it sounds and performs GREAT!

I was told in order to go catless that it has to do something with a sensor and that it must be bypassed. Nothing to do with the tuner but I can be wrong though. I will ask my buddy again to confirm. I would be afraid to fail emissions if I did that.

Please keep us updated after the install:smileup: I'm interested in the header but don't want any CEL's or stored memory errors on the ECM.

UPDATE..I see from the JBA website the headers are for Off road use only!

*The product accompanying this document is legal only for off-highway use (except in California or states that have adopted California emission standards), racing use or for use on pre-emission-controlled motor vehicles/motor vehicle engines (pre-1974 domestic vehicles certified to California standards, pre-1974 domestic vehicles certified to federal standards and all pre-1974 foreign vehicles), per the manufacturer’s application guide.

There is no mistaking that the 5.7L Hemi has first class power in the truck and SUV market. JBA's new Cat4ward® Headers for this awesome power plant have been engineered to deliver more of that power throughout the RPM range where it can be put to good use. Any truck owner can tell you that low-end torque comes in handy when hauling or cruising. Mid-range power when charging a hill or passing on the freeway rates high on the wish list too. JBA addressed both of these areas and added an extra 15+ hp to the peak power as well. How does an extra 24 lb-ft. @ 2100 RPM sound? You have plenty of options to suit your needs as well - "works" finish stainless steel or high heat rated ceramic coated. To learn more about these finishes

I'll keep looking for a Smog Legal header.

im running no cats on my 2010, only thing you have to do is keep your o2 sensors in the exhaust and bypass them via the tuner (i have a diablosport trinity). the tuner only bypasses the o2 signal, NOT the o2 heater, so to prevent the CEL keep your o2's plugged in and in your exhaust.

I know that a tuner will stop a CEL but it won't stop a internal error code to show up during a OBD smog inspection. Also having a tuner installed and removed will cause FAIL smog test unless the proper 'drive cycles' are done. (been there done that). The errors are still stored in the cars main ECM and will appear during a OBD smog test. Thats why JBA states the header or exhaust system is for 'Off Road Use Only'

Although you can certainly remove or replace the stock cats , I wouldn't bother
the JBA Shorty Headers are designed to work with the stock cats and sensors that remain totally un-touched. No tuner required. No CEL's.

The Cat4Ward header simply replaces the stock cast iron "log" exhaust manifold.
There's very little risk of throwing any codes since the stock cats and both 02 sensors are down stream in the stock location.

Here's a side by side pic of a set of JBA's for a 3G Ram
the rusty stock cast iron restrictive log below

Titanuim Ceramic Coated JBA shorties installed on a 4G Hemi:

Here's a 4G stock exhaust manifold (looks even worse than a 3G Hemi) compared to an ARH longtube header.
Those are the ones to really watch out for when it comes to throwing codes because you have to relocate the cats and Both 02 sensors further downstream.

The JBA shorties are a bargain at $500 and change compared to $1500 for un-coated long tubes from ARH.

If you have a 4G Hemi 2WD, BBK has an even better deal at $399 (silver ceramic coated) or $299 (chromed)

For 4x4 4G's , the JBA's are the only cheap option for an aftermarket header.

My JBA shortys arrived the other day. the shipping date kept getting pushed back so it took almost a month to get them. not a big deal to me tho. now they are getting black ceramic coated and then they will be ready to install.

wow yeah those stock manifolds look terrible restrictive. and those titanuim shortys look awesome installed on that truck.

i never really thought about going with 1 dual in/out muffler. i guess i just thought of true duals as two mufflers for some reason. i didn't even come across the dual in/out when i was looking or i may have gone with that

off road use only? i guess if i get pulled over ill just put it in 4x4 and hit a farmers field  ill get pics up after the install for sure

Just to get this thread back on subject. I received my JBA shorties today. I'm really impressed that it was only about 2weeks from order to delivery. Although, I had to wait a little while b/c AutoAnything was listing them as out of stock for awhile. Also, the $516 for the uncoated was actually discounted by $51 using their 10% off March Madness coupon. Now, I plan to coat them myself with some header coating from Eastwood and install myself. I just need to research the other guys that have done it and find the time to do it. If I recall correctly, a couple of guys said to plan for 4 hours.

My Sliver Ceramic Coated JBA's came from AA within a week, 7 days from order to my door in Canada.
I used discount code "LOYALTY" for 15% off = ..$555

My new JBA's next to my stock manifolds

I've done Two JBA Shorty installs within a week
First one (mine) took 5 hours, second one we cut down to 3.5 hours

Both were driveway installs, on jack stands

Two mechanically inclined guy's, Two full sets of tools
Deep and shallow sockets, extensions and swivel universals joints
ratchet wrenches and stubby wrenches.

Lots more info in this thread in the performance section with pics and install tips:

Got a question here guys.. If I went with these JBA headers what else would I need to do to the exhaust ?
I currently have a magnaflow y-pipe 2.5inlet and 3.0outlet,also a 18 inch mufflex, everything else is stock on my 2010 sport with factory duals. Would I need to change out my y pipe again for bigger inlet/outlet?
ALso one more question, I live in new York, would I still pass inspection? I would plan on keeping my factory cats as well......thanks
Eric.....

Nothing else required on the exhaust, you're all set,
emissions wont be effected, that's a huge benefit to JBA's over LT's

Still have a stock intake? Better open that up for better flow too, goes hand in hand with exhaust and tuner to complete the "Big 3"

You'll want at the very minimum, a drop in K&N replacement flat filter
perhaps mod an extra inlet hose to the bottom of the stock box.

Other CAI options for a little more money:
aFe, Mopar, K&N,Airaid, Volant and Vararam.

I've used 3 different setups on my Ram before finally settling on the Volant. 3 good reasons:

100% sealed system with a lid , wont allow hot engine air in
Excellent high flow Dry filter good for 100k miles, never needs cleaning/oiling
Optional port in the bottom for a Ram Air tube.
