Dealer didn't have the truck I wanted so they pulled what I did want from another dealer. This one has some painted on stripes above the wheel wells. They are "kind of" growing on me but I am still not sold. I'm kind of at an I don't care if they stay or go but I'd like your opinions.

Yeah so that's one of my questions. They are paint and they will have their body shop remove them. Should the fact that they are paint and not decals worry me? Will whatever they use to remove them harm the factory paint job?

They look sharp to me. My dad bought a white silverado, it need something like those stripes imho.It looks to plain/cheap to me with nothing, but I have giant hemi stripes on the rear fenders, haha.

I like the design and think they add - not detract from the look - but only of they are painted on.. If they are plastic they will deteriorate and look crappy and leave a shadow on the paint where they were. Taking plastic off now won't be a problem.

I bought my sport specifically due to the lack of chrome/bling.
Therefore I vote - Loose the molding and the stripes as well as the "RAM 1500" on the doors, and if I was'nt so cheap I would get the white lettering on the tires turned inside as well......

Keep em

IMHO...

I personally like both. I think it breaks up the vast body side with a little character...something to define a transition.

Also, I prefer those painted-chrome body side moldings over the larger all-chrome ones too.

John, if they're painted on, they'll probably just polish them off with a rubbing compound. In theory, it's totally fine, as the stripes are a layer ABOVE the clear coat which is a layer or more above the paint of the truck itself.

BUT, this comes down to the skill of the dude wielding the buffer. Too much pressure, held too long, or too little compound could lead to swirl marks in the clear coat which may be visible in certain lighting conditions.

The odds are in your favor it'll be fine, but worth understanding and thinking about. Best to have them clearly explain the process and show you how they'll perform the work before committing to the work. ;)

Look like pep boys stripes,(one stripe design fits all) remove them and the black vinyl between the front and rear side windows. The beauty of vinyl stripeage is that you can change the look if you get tired of it.
A totally white truck is really a clean look.
It's your truck so do whatever looks good to YOU.

The rear stripe looks good but the front stripe that extends onto the door looks a bit odd. I can understand your conundrum. If you've had the vehicle a few days and still asking the question, then I would read that as your gut saying ditch them.

I have the same truck except for quad cab and would get rid of the stripes and the panels. However you outta go to a good body shop before getting the stripes done as others mentioned. I like the clean white look of the truck and no distractions. Good luck!

Someone went and put 'Pa-Pa pin stripes on a SPORT!?!??!
For the love of Pete! Lose em! Pronto. Find the person who decided that was a good idea and kick them in the nuts for good measure.

On a Sport, less is more. The only stripes that remotely look good on a Sport is warpaint stripes.

I see nothing wrong with them, you have a one of a kind truck this way. There actually painted on instead of vinyl.
