Yeah so that's one of my questions. They are paint and they will have their body shop remove them. Should the fact that they are paint and not decals worry me? Will whatever they use to remove them harm the factory paint job?
John, if they're painted on, they'll probably just polish them off with a rubbing compound. In theory, it's totally fine, as the stripes are a layer ABOVE the clear coat which is a layer or more above the paint of the truck itself.
BUT, this comes down to the skill of the dude wielding the buffer. Too much pressure, held too long, or too little compound could lead to swirl marks in the clear coat which may be visible in certain lighting conditions.
The odds are in your favor it'll be fine, but worth understanding and thinking about. Best to have them clearly explain the process and show you how they'll perform the work before committing to the work.
