2010 RAM 1500.

Both Key Fob's have this issue. Sometimes I have to press the unlock button several times before the doors unlock.

I suspect bad batteries in both. However, if there are other known issues with these Fob's please enlighten me.

If batteries are the most likely issue, how do you separate the 2 halves of the Fob's to change batteries?

And what number battery?

Most FOBs that i have seen have a Valet key inside the FOB
pull the VALET key partially out & give it a twist
usually the FOB will split open

Thanks for the tip. I gave that a try but it wouldn't work with the amount of pressure I was willing to risk.

Before you replace the batteries...

Moisture builds up and corrodes the connectors over time, especially if your A/C vent hits the fob then you put it in your pocket.

Before you replace the batteries, open the fob and remove the circuit board from the rubber touch pad.

With a knife softly scratch-off the dark corrosion on the round contacts and ensure that all contact points are clean.

Replace everything and try it. I clean mine once/year just to be sure I don't get stranded in a rain storm.

OK, I've pried one of the fobs apart and cleaned all the contacts. Didn't look corroded. Will see if that helps. If not I'll replace the battery.

It's been 4 days. Fob works every time. It was battery.
