For an unknown reason, on my '03 RAM 1500 Quad Cab 4WD my "Lamp Out" warning light and the accompanying ding bell go on and off erratically and completely randomly even though not a single light is out! I have removed tested and cleaned all the tail lights bulbs and holders, etc. so I am guessing it is an electrical sensor or module at fault? No rhyme or reason to it they just go off whenever they feel like it - a lot. Any suggestion would be much appredciated as the bell is very annoying when riding along!
Thank you,
Willy Smith

:smiley_thumbs_up: OMG! Thanks Stangshcky12....I have taken them and cleaned them several times never suspecting that they had circuits in them...I guess each one has a circuit board, so I shall replace them both!! If it works out I'll let you know so others may benefit from the experience! Also, perhaps this is why they have the rubber rings around each lamp....to prevent water from ingressing to and affecting these circuits....so maybe I will seal the new ones a little better, with a dab of silicone. Do the front headlamps and/or parking /turn signals have their own circuits as well?

:wavey:Man, I really appreciate your help!! The new tail lamp holder fixed the issue completely! Who would have guessed their was a circuit board in there! lol It was the passanger side as you said it would likely be.
I also siliconed a crack in the lens that may have allowed moisture to get in.
Have a HAPPY New Year!

Great to hear that fixed the problem! I have the same issue on my 2003 1500 and I narrowed it down to the circuit board as well, hoping that would resolve my issue. I'm definitely going to pick one up now. Thanks for the confirmation

i have had the same issue with two different rams now. I was never able to figure out the problem because its so random and you are normally driving when it happens and you cant really troubleshoot at the moment. I'm going to give replacing the circuit board too. I'll let you know how it goes.

My lamp out light has been on ever since i bought the truck a few months ago. I have looked and looked but all lights seem to work fine. If the circuit board has a break in the line some where wouldnt this cause your tail lights to fail???? all of my lights work.

I have the problem in my 03 Ram as well. However, in my case, the plug that plugs into the circuit board has a broken off pin. Does anyone know where I can get the plug at? I'm going to replace both boards and both plugs if I could find the plugs.

I don't understand why it would be telling me I have a lamp out when I don't even have the lights on. No lights, no brakes, no turn signal. Just driving in broad daylight. Although if it's the boards like everyone is saying, the rash of wet weather we're having might be contributing.
