I have done a 4/6 drop on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x2.
I have since sold the truck, but DRM makes a kit to do it with everything you need for about $1500.00. The rear frame rails must be notched to pull this off. My brother has a 2001 Ram 1500 4x2 and he wants to do the same thing to his truck, but I have done some research and for some reason the kit I used is not compatable with a 2001(?) Does anyone know what changed between 98 and 2001 that would make the 98 drop kit not work on the 01?

So, are you saying that because of the difference between the older balljoints and spindles and those on the '01 a 4/6 lowering kit has not or cannot be designed? Any retrofitting to work with a kit for the earlier models? Seems like it must be a pretty dramaatic difference.

Thanks,
RR

Yeah, the spindles are different shapes. Sure you could retrofit it, its just metal. However that is pretty serious fab work. It would be easier to machine your own spindle, then to convert one. Just buy the right spindles and be done with it.

uh, ok....
not sure how that's relevant, but...
The original post is over 30 days old and the OP hasn't come back to the forum to check for member input.... like so many they are here today and gone tomorrow.

I'm new here but I always try to check back on any forum where I've asked for help...

I'd like to see the pic. I am thinking of drooping my 98 (I've always been odd like that).
However, at 1500 for the kit, I am wondering why not bag the thing? especially if the frame has to be notched to static lower these trucks anyway?
