My 2005 Ram 1500 ST has LT tires on them. I don't do any off roading other than a dirt road or across the field once or twice a year. Any advantage to changing to a SUV type tire with a more auto like tread pattern. A smoother highway ride would be nice. The ride on my truck really smoothed out when I added a leer shell and got a little weight on the bed. I'm just thinking I might get better mpg, better ride, less tire noise and longer wear on the tire, any thoughts, recommendations?

suv tires will generally be lighter than LT tires, helping slightly with mpg, acceleration, etc. They can't carry as much weight though. They are "softer" sidewall, or less heavy duty.
