Hi Everyone,

I have done extensive research and have decided to purchase the Magnaflow 18 muffler for my 2012 Crew Sport 5.7. However there are a bunch of choices for it and it's rather confusing. Can anyone tell me the measurements on a 2012 exhaust? I have a single going in to the muffler now and 2 coming out to the exhaust. Is is a 3" into the muffler and 2" coming out? I want to purchase it online because it's cheaper and then have it installed.

If you want it welded in, get 12278, it is the 18" case, 3" inlet, dual 2 1/4" outlets. It's what I put in mine. My install thread:

If you want to DIY it, check out Mufflex. They make a series of DIY kits using MagnaFlo mufflers that are already sized to fit right in.

I personally just ordered up pn# 12198 3"si/2.5" do, but I looked at the 18" one you mentioned. Either should be fine and any exhaust shop will be able to install them with no problem.

I did the mufflex 18 and it fit right in, no welding. It's been on over two years now, and I can always take if off if I sell or want do do something different.

That's the exact one I'm looking at. I don't want a new Y pipe so will this muffler install on the OEM exhaust pipes?

I don't know that I want an exhaust that isn't welded on.

Clamps are fine as long as they are good clamps. I only like double band clamps. If you just do the muffler, you will need extension pipes weldes in. The stock muffler is much longer.

I would say that if you checked out the stock Y pipe you will want to change it. Thats what I did, installed the Mufflex system 22" and then had local muffler shop install new Y pipe and weld the system.
