Seems as if this mod shows up in every years truck threads. Here is the one for 2016. Many of the late builds in 2016 already have the door cut out from the factory with the door in place. I installed the K&N VF2013 because it looks to me like it has less air flow restrictions than the paper or paper/charcoal units and it is washable. I also think it will not do quite as good a job as the paper filters for removing the finest dust - a trade off.

My 2016 RAM QC Express was built on April 22 2016 and already has the cabin air filter door installed from the factory.

Installed mine and notice the fan is quieter, didn't notice any air flow restriction. My 2016 was built in November 2015 so I had to install the door. Used a Dremel to cut the door, did not need to remove the fan. My kit had a Mann Filter MC1071 that fit perfect.

Very pleased with this mod - big THANK YOU to Brad for his contributions.

Did this yesterday, took all of 20 minutes. That plastic is a PITA to cut in that confined space. Used a sharp utility knife to do it and still was a PITA. Door snaps in nice and tight, and filter from Dodge was a good fit as well.

Job done.

So i got it put in but now when its on the 2 highest fan settings there is a loud hum. Almost like its to restrictive now that the filter is there. I do have a regular cab and i know the and is designed to oush air through a crew cab.

Anyone else have this issue? Maybe the oem filter is too resyrictive?

Tape the door shut with duct tape, seal it good and try it out.
