I hope this is not a "technical question". I have to admit – I lied when I joined this forum :str: I do not yet have a Dodge but I am thinking about buying one. I am interested in buying a 90-93 pickup (3/4 ton or 1 ton – 1 ton would be most wonderful) or Ramcharger 4x4 with the Cummins 6BT. 70% of the use of this vehicle will be camping and traveling, so mpg will be important.
What kind of highway mpg do both of these vehicles get - not heavily weighed down and not pulling anything? Assume that the differentials are more suited to highway driving – 3.5 or smaller number – and that the vehicle has not been lifted so that the driver can pick apples while passing by the apple trees in the local orchard. :gy: The magic number I am hoping for is “20”, “25” would make me google right now to buy one :smiley_thumbs_up:. I usually drive on the highway with the cruise control turned on.

Finally, do either of these vehicles have air bags installed during these years?

You should come to the US on vacation and look at a bunch of Rams. I would look, southern California, Arizona, Texas. Those states have little or no snow/salt. The old 12 valve Cummins were great motors, and with a little tuning can be quite powerful and somewhat economical. 20 mpg maybe with the proper tuning, etc. Only negative, they are pretty loud. I think I would look for a manual transmission, too, unless it had an upgraded automatic. I'd look at a 2500 Ram, if you don't need a 3500, ride will be more comfortable. I think it's pretty easy to export one thru Long Beach, California. I live in Maine and I see lots of Rams going on the container ships headed for Rotterdam, NL.

The years of trucks you are looking at would get 20 mpg with easy driving not towing anything. They make a lot less power than the newer trucks, usually around a 185 horsepower but are cheaper to work on. Good luck finding a nice one, they are usually pretty rough when I see them.
