I have just bought a used 2008 standard Ram 1500 with 55000 miles for $9,000 and have just started going over minor problems. I need some pointers on increasing power and mileage with minimum cash outlay. There may not be any way but I would like to try. I will need new tires, a receiver hitch, and my 5th wheel hitch mounted. Then I can try to improve performance some. My last truck was a 1990 Chevy 1/2 ton with a 350CID so this engine will be a horror for me until I get used to it. Please wish me luck I will have a few questions later.

How big of a 5th wheel are we talking? the 4.7 is not a big motor, but does pull well. I will be towing a 26' Bayliner with mine before long.

i think your 4.7 will pull better than the chevy 5.7. 4.7 i putting out better numbers, on paper anyway. with the deal you found, you drive the hell out of that engine, blow it up, put in a rebuilt hemi and still come out ahead.

i you do not get answers on mods, try reading up in the dakota section.
