Was shopping around for Magnaflow catback kit, some guys wanted $900 to $1000 installed, one guy suggested i just get the muffler and keep the stock pipe, anyone on here tired this or is it a cheap cheesy way out??? One more thing seen a magna flow 39480 kit on amazon anyone know what that might sound like???

Not a great deal to be gained,if any with a full cat back,stock is 2.25 inches vs 2.5 for the cat back,bigger is not always better when it comes to exhaust.Both are stainless,just relaced the muffler on mine with a 14" magnaflo,very happy with it......:smileup::smileup::smileup:..Rob

IMO catback is a waste of money, stock pipes are good quality SS piping no need to cut it out and throw it away. Either just do a muffler or a mufflex system. I would suggest the Mufflex , its a pefect fit and a DIY job that takes about an hour in your drive way with basic tools and can be removed just as easy if you ever want to change it out. Ive done 2 trucks with the mufflex both turned out great with no problems.

^what they said. The stock exhaust is basically identical to the cat back systems. Replace the muffler and you have the same thing.

I agree. Nothing wrong with a catback but the gains/advantages over stock piping is tiny if at all. Simply replacing the muffler is a cheap way out but cheap in a good way, not the discount store scratch and dent way. You get the same sound for a very tiny fraction of the price. I have seen good things out of the Mufflex kit as well. Good luck!

Got my cat back from discountmufflers dot com for 650 and cost me 60 to install so 1000 is too much for sure. my thread is here if you like and check out blackramhemi's link in there too. you may change your mind

Again , keep SS and replace stock Y. The factory crushes the Y to make it fit n collector. Mufflex and new Y.. You'll b good to go.
