I have a 2010 Ram 1500 ST Reg cab, stock. Currently have p265 70r17, but was wondering that what the biggest size I could throw on it, without hindering anything else?

Check with a GOOD, GOOD wheel/tire shop. Remember, your Ram was engineered and designed with a maximum size to be used. Using larger you can loose safety, handling and ride comfort.

It is unlikely that you will ever need or use larger than the factory options. (275/60R20)
Be sure to think twice before throwing the largest shoes on it you can.

I'm not changing my rim size. So I would need something that fits 17s. Sorry I don't know too much about tires so is there a 275 that will fit it?

275 is the stock size. like he said the need for a bigger tire is rare. off roading mostly. and looks. i myself wanted bigger but will most likely stay stock or one size up, 285. had them on my'01 and they looked good. i think its mainly cosmetic. brand of tire is a whole different story. always been BFG fan and the only tire i ever used. they are a long lasting reliable tire.

I still have my stock tires on, and they aren't 275, theyre 265..

Not sure how much you know about tires, but the 265s that you have relate to tire width, 265mm. You can go wider with 275 up to 295 but remember that your rims are only so wide, so going with a tire that is too wide will affect how the tires look and the contact area of the tire.

Do you want to go wider, or do you also want a taller tire? Some tire websites have a tool where you put in your vehicle info and it will show how different wheel/tire combos will look on your truck. Might want to try that out to see how it looks.

Also ask a tire shop how tall and wide you can go before you start having issues with tires rubbing the body or suspension components for you truck. Good luck.

YOu can fit a 285/75/17 with out a levelling kit.

265 is the height. 70 is the width.

Bunch is misinformation on here (not busting on anybody) 275mm width / 70 = how tall the tire is / 17" rim size. If you want to go to a bigger tire and not have it affect any other part of your truck your must reduce the aspect ration here is an example 285x60x17 is going to equal your 275x70x17. Go to tirerack.com and they have the tools to help you get the correct tire. Just remember to look at how tall each tire is so it will not affect your spedo or computer. One last thing make sure the extra width does not affect tire clearence inside the wheelwell

I just read every post here and it becomes clear how so many people get confused when reading through the different responses on a forum.

The op stated that his stock tires or 265/70/17 and right away someone stated that stock tires or 275/60R20, this was also backed up by another post......All Rams do not have the same size tire, my Ram also has 17" wheels and the stock tire size is 265/70/17.

Now people are having a discussion/disagreement about how to read tire sizes....more confusion and no help to the op.

I'll admit that I don't know for sure what the biggest tire you can put on your truck but I do know a 275/70/17 will fit, they will be close to 2 inches taller and very close to the same width. I used the terms "close to" because the actual size can differ from one tire brand to the next even if they are labeled as the same size, it won' be much of a difference but some.

now i am confused. my whole life, i put 50's on my chevelle cause they are wider, wall to wall. 255, i assumed was tread to tread distance. ???
