So, it's that time. I will be needing tires pretty soon and I'm starting to look. With a baby coming in a few weeks money is tight. I've been shopping around a little and found some on Craig's List.

They are Sailun Terramax, 50,000m warranty. Does anyone have experience with these? They are $530, a decent price. I don't do any off roading, my truck is a daily commuter to the office.

Any other suggestions? I'd prefer to get new as opposed to going to a used shop, but if I have to then I will.

Thanks in advance.....

General grabber HTS if you want street tires or AT2's
They are great tires and they run in the middle of the price range.
Don't go cheap.on tires they are the only thing that touches the road they need to be good.
Good luck

Tirerack.com. compare lots of tires by reviews, and some actual testing. I've purchased the tires that consistently end up in the top 3 slots of whatever category I'm hunting for at the time, and I have yet to be disappointed by them. I love the site.

Not sure if you 17 inch tires or 20 inch, but Walmart has a good selection of tires at prices sometimes close to Tire Rack. I second the General Grabbers as a good tire. I have the Goodyear Wrangler Authority tires that you can get from Walmart. They are a good tire, but perhaps too aggressive for your driving habits.

and I would say many of the tires from walmart would be better than the Sailuns you are looking at. They are a Chinese tire. You could get a set of Goodyear Wrangler AT/S from walmart for cheaper than that price.

Thanks for the inputs. I've checked tire rack, I almost think with shipping that prices them out. I'll check them out for ratings and reviews.

Anyone have experience with Cooper Tires........specifically Discoverer RTX or LSX Plus? They are buy 3 get 1 free plus rebates.

I had cooper discoverer CTS on my last truck. good summer tire. downright deadly in inclement weather and snow. the AT3's are rated very highly, and get some love around here as well. between those two you mentioned, I would go with the rtx (at least in my area - given seasons) as the lsx looks far to similar to the CTS for my taste. if you don't fight that much snow, then the highway tires might be fine for you.

Hmmm, good info. I'm just south of Columbus Ohio, so snow is hit or miss. One year we can have a total of 10 inches and another we can have 50-60 and an occasional ice storm.

I have 17" rims btw......

Well, I came into needing a set of tires rather dramatically - if anyone remembers the post I had this spring on the crazy lady at the hotel. I can say that my Firestone destination AT's have been very nice this summer. very good road manners and quiet for such a large tread deisgn. water hasn't been much of an issue either - save for the occasional heavy foot turning corners on slick concrete in the rain. looking forward to winter performance.

You have some good choices pointed out here. I would stay away from the Chinese tires regardless of the price. Go with the best tire you can afford for you and your families safety .
