My 2 concerns buying my new 2019 Mega Cab 3/4ton Limited was that I’d have problems with the D. E. F. System and I also had the feeling that I shouldn’t get the auto leveling system. The salesman told me they weren’t having any problems with either. Even though I knew that to be incorrect. That’s on me. Both the D. E. F. system and the auto leveling systems won’t work. My truck is in limp mode and needing a back ordered part. Been over a month and keep getting new dates as to when the parts will be in. The auto leveling system compressor is whacked in cold weather. I’d recommending to move on or not get this equipment. I’ve got 6,400 miles on a vehicle that sits in a dealership lot. Not able to utilize it for what I needed it for. The dealership has offered me a loaner car. A Jeep. Hard to bull a 12,000 pound trailer with that.

I haven’t as I just found out the pushed back -back ordered part just got pushed out once again. I wish the dealership would have had the courtesy to give me a heads up. I had to call after the date the part was to be received and installed to get the word. I’d be sympathetic if I knew the manufacturer was having problems or issues. But I’ve heard nothing. Surely Ram knows whose waiting and for how long. Or they should.

Maybe politely suggest they take the part off another truck on their lot. I would also PM Ramcares on this site, include your VIN number in the PM.

Hey @Rampart - If you would be interested in sending me a private message on this, I would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist who can work alongside your dealer to try and get the part in as soon as possible. Hope to hear from you soon!

Time to write up all the visits and conversations and emails with the dealer and to research what is required under the lemon law for your state. In my state the mileage is not relevant and a friend had to have his sedan towed 4 times to the dealer and he used the lemon law to have it replaced. His car had more than 12,000 miles on the odometer and he got a new car with a dozen miles to replace his. The lemon law is designed specifically for your situation.

I’d be happy to. And a big thank you. Not too sure how to private message you. Can you provide instructions? Sorry to ask

I am not sure you can do PM's at the moment as I think you have to have a certain amount of posts before you can PM. To PM hover your screen arrow over the persons name in their avatar and a window will pop up. At the bottom of the window will be a block that says "message". Click on that and you will see a box that you can type a message in to send to the person. I just looked at it and I think after you type your message you have to click on the box at the bottom that says "start conversation" to send it.

If you can not PM at this time I would just reply to ramcares post above including your VIN.

Sorry that you are having those issues. I have a 2018 2500 with just over 46k miles on it. Been through a couple of NY winters and the rear airbag system has not given me any problems (nor has the DEF). Hopefully your dealer corrects the problem and you can enjoy many miles with your truck.

I've had issues with my air-ride system multiple times warm and cold weather. Every time though, local dealer working with FCA took care of my issues (4, yes, 4 compressors) right away with little to no cost out of my pocket. My experience with FCA has been fantastic. I believe they've had enough problems with that system that it will be taken care of.

Has Ram changed the D.E.F. system? I have a 2017 Ram 2500 with 50,000 miles, no problems with the D.E.F.

I had trouble with my DEF unit at 17k miles. Dealer told me that I put bad DEF in the tank. Of course I didn't. Anyway they said it would cost about $2400. I was lucky it was done under warranty. Don't let them charge you.

I have a 2017 2500 4x4 mega cab limited. I don't have the leveling system, but so far, I have not had a problem with the DEF system. If you change your own oil and diesel filters, get ready to start cussing! I don't know what they put the oil filter on with, but I broke and oil filter wrench. I ordered a gear wrench oil filter wrench and had to put a breaker bar on it and it did great. I had to put a strap wrench on the rear diesel filter to break it loose Then get ready for sticker shock when you buy the oil filter and the two diesel filters from the dealership. I have since found them on line. Also I looked all under the engine to find the oil filter. It is behind the passenger front tire. So you have to remove that tire. They don't give a lot of room to remove the oil filter. So like I said, if you do your own filter changes, get your tools first. I had to order the gear wrench oil filter wrench.
