We all have different tastes. I do like the monotone grill frame but I took my black honeycomb inserts out and put the Hexfoil Laramie inserts in

 

I'm very curious why you bought a new grill and not just paint the one that came on the truck.

 

Why do they put that tape on in the first place? Is it because people use that part of the door to close it with? To help reduce scratches?

 

To blend the front and rear windows, so there isnt a body colored stripe between the two pieces of glass. I myself prefer the black between the windows but appreciate what others have done.

Is it possible to paint the chrome grill rather than buy a new one?

 

You can paint it but the paint wont stick and will peel over time, unless you sand blast the plastic chrome off, or sand it for hours on end. it was much easier to buy a new ready to paint grill.
