They're pretty much just a rubber insulating pad so it's not just metal/metal contact with the coils on the spring seat. Probably to avoid squeaks/noises and premature wear.

I am tempted but A) I am in canada and B) I use my truck for work everyday and I don't want the rear to be lower than the front all the time lol

I could also check usps international. I just looked up size and weight requirements and the box meets them. As for towing, that's up to you. You had several people reply to your thread you posted on the 2" rear level for reference.

Part number 91214. The rear springs and shocks are the same on all cab and bed configurations though so these will still fit. The progressive spring rate may be slightly different but I doubt it would be noticeable.
