Hello, I just joined.
I’m looking to put in a new stereo/touch screen display instead of what I have now. I own a 2010 Ram 1500 Trx4 ext cab.
I’ve tried asking ChatGPT to figure some of the things I will need to properly install a screen in place, instead of just adding one on my dash.
This is what it tells me I will need but I see no reason I will need anything for my steering wheel becayse

- Double-DIN head unit (most modern CarPlay screens are double-DIN).
- Dash kit made for 2006–2010 Ram trucks so the new radio sits right and looks factory. Metra makes a common one for those years (example Metra 95-6528 / 95-6511).
- Wiring harness adapter (so you don’t cut factory wires) and antenna adapter. A Metra radio wiring harness and antenna adapter are standard.
- Steering-wheel control interface (keeps your factory buttons working) — e.g., Axxess/Metra ASWC-1.
Anyone ever done this before and have any suggestions.
