So I've been a member of this forum for a while. Made very few if any statements pretty much just search the threads for info. But I have a 2005 1500 5.7 with 100,000 miles. I just did a brake job last week because the dealer wanted around $500 for the job and saved myself a bunch of dough. Now I'm in need for a tune-up and they want around $700 for that and won't be doing much more then changing spark plugs and wires or coil packs. Whichever, not quite clear on the tune up procedure. So I Was wondering If I could get a little guidance on what I exactly should be doing for the tune up-spark plugs, wires, coil packs????, Basically just need to know how any of you would go about tuning up a truck way over due of service. Any guidance or help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Don't change wires or coils! Change plugs, maybe fluids like antifreeze, trans fluid and filters, differential lubes , power steering fluid. I have almost 300,000 miles on my hemi Dodge Magnum, original wires, coils, water pump, power steering pump and I use the cheap Copper Champion plugs. Same with my Ram.

buy your spark plugs from Rock Auto, you will save a ton of money that way & they got here fast
i just bought 16 plugs for my '09 5.7L, w/ 99,700 miles on it
cost was less then half of what the dealership wanted for the exact same brand & type

yours should be these
CHAMPION Part # 570 {#442, RE14MCC4} Copper Plus
.044 Gap; OE Plug
$1.71 each
http://www.rockauto.com

look under Ignition catagory

Thanks for the info. Is that the correct part # and gap for 2005 1500 5.7. I know sometimes these auto shops aren't filled w/ the most knowledgable people and I wanted to have something to cross reference.
