I found these local to me (they are in palm bay), they are I think stock ram wheels, they are professionally painted black, 17" x 8" aluminum, and weigh 17.5 lbs each. Yes, 17.5 lb each. I want to buy them, but can't decide if they'd look good...anyone want to photo shop it for me? :)

If anyone happens to want the information to buy them I'll give it to you, the guy is asking me to make an offer, but like I said I can't decide...

That's what I'm thinking....however I'm short on cash due to some unforeseen costs from my buell :) lol. I couldn't afford much, what do you all think they are worth?

lol he just emailed me back and said he'd take $200...maybe we can split the difference. Still can't decide if they'll look good though...

I picked up a set of the same wheels for track days with my 2011 and really like them. Paid $200 for them with tires, then sold the tires for $100. Mine aren't repainted, but do have the centers and look good from 15ft. I didn't weigh the wheels bare, only with tires, but estimated them at 22lbs based on the advertised weight of the tires - hearing they only weigh 17.5 is even better. I put 235/70s on the fronts and got 275/60s for the back, but have only run the fronts so far. The backs are too short for 1/4 mile - will hit the top speed governor at about 1000ft. Since there is no tuner support yet, I researched and found Hypertech's speedo calibrator does work for the 2011s (per their website and techline). It was $200 shipped, but that beats the $425 the dealer wanted to recalibrate. It should arrive tomorrow so we'll see. The local tracks don't open for a few more weeks but when they do I'm hoping to dip into the 13s with just wheels/tires, catch can and Sonnax with 3.55 gears - call it a super stocker!

BTW, you mentioned putting a 10 inch slick on them - I can't find any true slicks for 17 inch rims. The closest thing I can find are 28 inch tall drag radials (too short IMO - since I'm not lowered it would look silly). Did you have something specific in mind?

Nothing specific in mind, but 28" is about what I was looking for. A street slick though, not a true slick. I ended up passing on the wheels because I am having to spend more money on another project (my bike) than I thought I would so just didn't really have any extra to spend right now. I'll likely pick up another set or something similar later on... Just FYI the 17.5lb was what the guy on CL told me, so take that for what it's worth...

2011lilred, would you mind posting some pics of your truck with those wheels? If I like how it looks, and the guy still has them in a month or so I may try to buy them. Thanks.

I don't have any pics with the 17s on the back, just with the fronts for now (the 20s are back on it at the moment). The first and last pics are from my crappy cell phone, the middle is a "borrowed" pic. As you can see with the 235/70 on the front, which are 30 inches, the tires look way small...28s would look even goofier.

Thanks. They look good! Yeah they are a bit small but for the track I really care about is getting to the gates as fast as possible lol. The small tires would only be on there to and from the track. I may end up buying these wheels after all if he still has them (I got an escrow refund check yesterday WOOHOO!). Realistically I'll put it right back on the mortgage but I'm sure I can steal $150 from it for these wheels.

One other question, the center hub of the wheel fits snugly with the hub on the spindle, right? There's not excess room around it? I'm just trying to make sure the wheel is centered by the center hub, not the lug nuts.

Yes, very snug. In fact they won't go all the way on by hand, they get drawn up when you put the lug nuts on. Not so much as to be a problem....just right.

Speedo calibrator was here when I got home. Plugged it in and it seems to be communicating fine. If the weather is nice this weekend, I might put on the 17s and see for sure.

BTW, for all those folks with 2011s and up with no tuner support, this will check and clear DTCs and Hypertech claims that if/when the tuners become available this will be upgradable. I know, everyone wants the Diablosport but for the guys who have already put long tube headers on their 2011s and up, this would be an option if they start throwing codes.

It might seem to be a moot point but...17.5 pounds per wheel sounds almost impossible. From my limited research, they appear to be 2003-2004 Ram wheels but I can't find the "official" weight. Has anyone confirmed the weight? If they actually weigh 17.5, I'll jump on a set...!
