i have a 2005 1500 5.7 HEMI. i took my muffler off just to see what would happen. long story short it sounds pretty good and a little more peppy but are there any problems with doing this?

My son just removed his muffler from his SRT8 300 . Seems ok . Still has his catalytic convertor and resonators . Don't think he'll have any issues . Race cars run open exhaust .
The only thing will be running it on the streets, since it's illegal all across north america. Fuzz pull you over and it's an automatic tow, at least in many states.
But if it's a track or off-road only truck, then have at 'er.
As long as you leave the cat on you wont have any issues burning valves. If you decide to take those out too, you will fry the valves and it will hurt the low end torque. If you are driving normal, the cops will not care, I've never had a issue my 73 charger has straight pipes, the harley has drag pipes and my ram has a gibson exhaust.
They are really strict in NH. They run an emissions test, check the tires, brakes, all the lighting. I can remember the days that an inspection consisted of the mechanic opening up the door to scrape off your old inspection sticker from your windshield and popping a new one on.
They do that in some places here, too, lol, which is the only way I could ever get my Jeep to pass he he (window tint too dark). They just collect your money, make you sign your name, replace sticker and voila, done. Every now and again, this guy gets busted and he stops, but always back at it a few months later!
sorry for my dog barking. damn dog lol. i took the video on my cell phone and i didn't know how to stop the video so it kind of runs for a few seconds after the truck passes. it's a 05 HEMI with no muffler and i just put in the DIY intake.
i just got a heartthrob dual cat-back system that has 2 mufflers, one in each tip. i took one of the tips off, and i was wondering if i am still legal. i still technically have a muffler, its just a lot louder because the other side of the exhaust is just a straight pipe
All you have done is remove any back pressure, therefore it is a bit better. It should not hurt until winter when a possibility of fumes getting into yer cab.Thats all we are doing when we change to an Flowmaster,Magnaflow or any other less restrictive unit. Have fun... wake the neighbors ! LOL
you can't tell unless you've gone to the track that way but I bet your losing a little low end... check the Y pipe..if it's pinched, that's your bottleneck now... here is mine..I have a magnaflow with cutouts...i wanted mine very quiet in the cab for just drivin around... an sound like NHRA with cutouts open..lol
i cut my muffler off and upgraded my cat 2 a high flow cat from magnaflow, then put a down pipe that turns down right bhind the cab. U can't even see it and i luv the sound. U can hear it a mile away and I rattle the windows in downtown.
