I have a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Larimie Longhorn that I bought about 2 weeks ago. My only complaint is the headliner rattles. To me it sounds like it's coming from the tracks for the sun roof shade door. Has anyone else had this issue? I really hate to take it to the dealer and have some guy rip my headliner out and it never be the same.(I may just be being paranoid) I would like to fix it myself but I dont have a clue on how to drop the headliner.

Just one more reason to hate sunroofs... never ending issues with them.
For some of you that haven`t had problems, dont worry, you will.

Hope your drain hose`s are installed and working like they should be. Just a heads up, you`ll want to check the drain hoses VERY often. Watch for stained headliners, as well as wet seats. That will surely tell you the drain hoses are either pinched or plugged up. Good Luck to you guys.

Far as rattles, improperly installed track. Needs to bind a little to keep them from rattling.
Wiring harness to the motor drive unit might not be secure.
Make sure the drain hose is secure.

As for you fixing it yourself, go buy yourself a shop manual and do it right.

My shade rattles open or closed. It's going in for first oil change tomorrow and the rattle is on the list. I will let you guys know how I make out.

They called me because they know by now (5 Rams) how fussy I am about my ride. They said they would have to drop the headliner to look at it,never done that b-4. I asked it there was a bullitin out on this problem and they said not yet. I told them not to do it at this time. I would wait till next oil change and maybe by then they would know how to fix it. Nobody messes with my truck if they don't know what they are doing!

To fix the rattle they pulled the headliner down and checked everything about the sunroof. Taking down the headliner wasn't really to bad, had to do it because I was having cab running lights installed, and they said it was just a little lose and needed tightened down...:thk: Anywho few thousand miles later and a few car washes the rattle is gone and everything is just fine.
