I have been trying some different detailing products lately. Recently I have tried a few of Chemical Guy's products and some have worked well, while others mediocre. What has really frosted my Wheaties is their poor customer service, and as a result I will not purchase their products any longer. On a couple previous occasions I could not get an answer from them on a couple of their products. The straw that broke the camels back as it were, was their unwillingness to make good on a foam blaster I bought 5 months ago and has cracked in two places, I sent them an e-mail referencing the specific order, date, the problem and asked for a replacement. I received a response indicating they "had none and should I have any additional questions to call". So I called and the rep reiterated what he said in the e-mail and when I asked does this mean if someone were to order one, there are none to be had and why the website did not indicate they are out of stock? He hemmed and hawed and did not really answer. So I asked for a refund and he said the warranty is only 30 day's, but he would talk to his supervisor and either he or his supervisor would call me back on their decision, they never did. Luckily Chemical Guy's are not the only game in town and I have found great products and customer service at other vendors. Rant over.

Great info, Bruce. This is not the first complaint I have heard about CG service.

These companies just don't seem to realize they are slitting their own throats with this kind of "customer service".

As you stated, there are many other manufactures of great car care products out there vying for your business.

Thanks for the info.

You are absolutely right Paul. It surprises me when companies offer poor customer service in light of all the competion out there and the multitude of forums. As a follow up, I replied to the reps original e-mail and reminded him of his promise to call and told him based on this experience as well as a previous one, they lost me as a customer. So far no response to it. Then yesterday I received one of their e-mailings which I unsubscribed to and in doing so a window popped up asking why? I responded and no response so far to that either.

I'm a prof. detailer and was shocked when I had to call Zaino about an issue, and I actually got the owner on the phone. It was late in the day and he stayed on with me until the issue was solved.
Great customer service there, the way it should be good on ya. You are not the first to speak to great service by Zaino, obviously Chemical Guys can learn from them.

Bruce, sorry to hear about the poor response from the company. I eneded up buying the gilmour foam cannon with all brass fittings and after this it makes me think i made the correct choice!

Just out of curiosity though was the unhappiness just with the service of the foam cannon or were you displeased with there soaps as well?

Thanks for the info Bruce! I've been contemplating ordering some stuff from Chemical Guys for a while now including a foam cannon but now I may look elsewhere to see what else is available.
Just to be clear, I ordered the foam blaster which is a different animal than the foam cannon. The foam blaster is attached to your garden hose, while the foam cannon requires a pressure washer. I do not have a pressure washer or I would have bought the foam cannon. I bought it mainly to use for my 28' TT which really makes quick work of washing the beast, but I have used it on my truck & my wife's car. I have been considering getting a pressure washer and a foam cannon, but if I do, I will not be getting a foam cannon from CG. The quality of the foam blaster is not very good.

I would say you did make the right choice and if I decide to get a foam cannon, I'll check out the Gilmour.

My unhappiness was with foam blaster quality itself, the customer service with this experience and prior. As to their soaps and such, some I have found to be decent and others mediocre.

Not to break stride here but this is the foam cannon i have and i love it!
That is what CG refers to as the Foam Blaster, but from the picture as far as I can see, looks to be much better made. It did a nice job on a light dirty vehicle or as a pre-wash on a very dirty vehicle. I found if you do wash it regularly, like once a week or two and it has not been driven in a rain storm or mud, it will clean the vehicle well.

I need to order up that Gilmour Foam Cannon. That's nice. Just reviewed on YouTube.

Thanks for the warning on CG. I've used AutoGeek before.
OK I just looked at the You Tube Video and it has better detail of the unit. It appears to be exactly like the one I get from CG, except the color of the handle. You guys may have better luck with it because of where you live. On my unit the plastic rings where the two sections mate for use cracked. Although it is not the best of plastic, the very dry desert atmosphere here in Phoenix is brutal on plastic and rubber. Also I am willing to bet Auto Geek and Amazon will stand behind the product.

I have not had to deal with the customer service dept at CG, however their shipping times are almost twice as long as Autogeeks. It seems that it takes about two weeks from order to receiving my package from CG. At least Autogeek is on the same coast and I usually get my orders the same week. Thanks for the heads-up about their customer service though.

Bruce, I have a pressure washer and I'm reviewing my options. I'll look closely at whatever I get as I try to buy with durability in consideration.

Thanks for the update.

Ray, Since you have a pressure washer, definitely get a foam cannon. They foam better and the pressure will do a more thorough clean job than a foam blaster. As a heads-up the foam cannons and foam blasters use considerably more car wash than bucket washing.
