I've got a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 4.7. I've had a problem with a white film in the oil fill canister on the front of the motor. Its sorta like lithium grease looking. I've noticed condensation in it also. I've tried regular and synthetic oils and no change. My boss at work owns a 2005 Durango with the 4.7 and has the same problem. Is this common with the 4.7? I've read on one site that that condensation was due to the use of thin cylinder walls on the 4.7 and was a common prob. Is this true??

This is a common issue and nothing to worry about. Just wipe it out, check your PCV valve and keep on rolling. I can't imagine how cylinder wall thickness would have the first thing to do with this. I suspect it's more from the rapid cooling of the aluminum parts since other engines I've had in the past with aluminum components have done the same thing when driven frequently on short trips.

Be nice if Dodge would notify owners about this! I've been afraid of a leaking headgasket or some other internal problem. My truck has over 113,000 miles on it and still runs strong.

Calling it a problem is arguable at best since it's not known to cause any problems but I understand your point.
