My 06 started out with some slipping and hard shifts in the lowers gears. After changing fluid and filters it now grinds terribly when you shift to reverse or drive and park won't engage. It will however go in gear, park etc when I put it in 4 wheel drive. I've been told the transfer case is the problem, any advise?

Sounds like you have a transfer case or axle problem. I'm thinking maybe a broken rear axle (axle shaft, pinion gear, or diff gears), so it works in 4x4 mode because you're driving through the front axle.

Try looking underneath (in 2WD) with trans in gear. Is the rear driveshaft turning? If so, then rear axle is bad. If not, sounds like an internal transfer case problem.

I jacked it up and put it through the gears, driveshaft turns and there's a clunking. The left rear wheel catches off and on and turns but the right rear it seized up and won't even turn manually.
