Opinions on interior mod?

So I have been fooling around with the black plastidip and decided todo the bezel around the radio as-well as the piece near the shifter. What are your opinions? Do you like it black like in my photo that was painted with plasti dip or the second photo (original factory). I am trying to make a decision before I go ahead and paint it the same black as the rams exterior. Thanks

I did the same thing with mine about 6 months ago and still love it.. The chrome would just blind ya when the sun refelcted off it just right.. So far it had held up way better than expected. I personally wouldn't do the shiney black that the exerior of your truck is. To me the plastic dip looks better and matches the other black trim in the interior and the shiney will reflect the sun just about as bad as the chrome did.. Just my 2 cents...
That is an excellent point about the sun reflecting off of the paint. From the looks of it I like it so I may have to redo it this weekend since this was done extremely fast. Thanks

Hey Brandon, looking closer at those 2 pics you have posted up in this thread, they are of 2 different trucks, they both have chrome..one is the grey and other one brown interior, whats up with that?

The first photo is of my big horn I didn't have a before photo so I just grabbed that one of an outdoorsmen off of google just to show the silver. I am not talking about the chrome bezel I am talking about the silver edges of the console.Sorry for the confusion.

I did this last August and could not be happier. The reflection off the chrome was killing me. I used Plasti-Dip because it matches perfectly. Below was my thread on it but you only have to look at the last pic to see the finished product.

That does look good with the silver but since I plastidipped the silver areas I may end up painting that chrome piece the same silver as around the vents in the first photo. I think if a dipped the chrome piece black too there would be no contrast. Thanks

Brandon
Yeah, I was not worried about contrast when I did it. I just had to stop that reflection from blinding me every day. It probably would look better if you matched the vents.
I really like the black. I'd like to try it. I assume the pieces have to be removed to plastidip, or can you just mask?

Yes the pieces had to be removed its a total of 3 torques and 2 screws. Two torque screws on the top where it says ram underneath the rubber tray. One behind the plug the cover around the plug will pop off and two screws under the rubber tray in-front of the shifter. Then everything just pulls right off. I found it was easier to do it this way but you might be able to get away with masking it off. Also if you have the pieces out of the truck you can use a hair dryer like I did to speed the dry time up to 15 minutes between coats.

If you only want to do the bezel around the shifter, there are no screws, just tension clips. See my link above for how I did it. I used a plastic putty knife to get started but others have used credit cards or detailing tools. Just be gentle so as not to scratch it or break the clips.
For me it's really the vent Crome that bothers me any ideas for that or plastic dip would work for that too
