Talking to a couple of dealers and they want me to hurry up with my order....supposedly not many Ecodiesel left in the 2014 production run. Since I am unable to get the ED with QuadCab AND Air Suspension (nobody knows why and there are no explanations) I am inclined to wait. What are the Cons besides a possibly higher price and less rebates? Thanks for your input...

... I think you answered your own question, "higher price and less rebates." The positive: a model year newer, which means a better resale value. This late in the game, with June approaching and '15s only 2-3 months out, I'd personally wait... unless you can find exactly what you want:smileup:

Agreed, I was close to getting a '14 but now I'm even more excited to see what the minor updates to the '15s will be. I'm looking at waiting until maybe even next spring to get in on some of the higher rebates that will likely come.

I am not disagreeing with any of the above comments, however the 2015s are not 2-3 months out. Order banks open in early August and production does not start until early October. With that timeline 2015s will not be hitting dealers until late November or early December. So really you are 6 - 6 1/2 months away from driving off with a new 2015 Ram. I say if you can wait then wait, but the 2015s will not be out nearly as early as the 2014 Rams.

I am waiting on the Ordering Bank to open for the 2015 Eco Diesels
The ordering bank may open in July or August
2015 Ram production will start in either late September or October
First deliveries would be right around Xmas or just after the New Year

The 2014 order banks will stay open for another month or two
production will continue into late August or the beginning of September

Ram wants to go for a production record while retaining the 2013/2014 Texas Truck of the Year title, as well as the Motor Trend Truck of the Year

The other Truck of the 2014 Year contest was the North American Truck of the Year & that was won by the 2014 Chevy Silverado
_________________________________________________--

Ram has to have 1,000 2015 Rams by a given date in 2014 to compete for the title again, they are hoping that the 2015 Ram 1500 Eco Diesel takes the Honors

Ram will not be the only 1/2 ton truck with a Diesel engine in 2015
They will not be the only one with a 8 or more speed automatic transmission either

In Texas there are rebates every month. I would probably just wait to be honest. That way it's not already a year old model by the time you get it unless you happen to find one local for a deal.

If I didn't get my express cheap I would have waited and ordered a 15.

I just put in an order because I wanted my truck for the summer. I considered waiting for the fall with better rebates but it wasn't worth it to me. My old truck was limping, and I was afraid I'd lose an engine before I sold it and I'd lose a lot of value on the sale.

I was told that you cannot lock in rebates, that you are subject to the rebate at time of delivery. Rebates are subject to change in the first week of every month, so with some luck it'll go up a bit in June when my truck arrives.

So my advice is, if you want the maximum value, wait to the fall and get a 14. But you'll likely lose some flexibility to get exactly what you want. If you wait fora 15, you'll get exactly what you want but you'll pay a premium for it and have to wait.

Well said. I worked in the auto finance biz for many years, and I can tell you that in the current market a consumer is best to wait until late summer/fall to buy a vehicle if they can find what they want. When you start talking about >$10K off MSRP on these vehicles it's a no brainer from a $ perspective to think about a leftover v. new model. Even though it's considered a year old vehicle, you beat the depreciation curve by far with the current discounts.

My dealer guaranteed I would get the rebates available at the time of order, except for the $500 for financing through Chrysler. He also claimed that if any incentives were better at the time of delivery, I would get the better incentives instead. Of course, if the finance incentive is still offered when the truck is delivered (which looks likely) I will get that savings as well.

My dealer said he's never seen the incentives go down in value, so the risk is low, but I couldn't get him to commit to guarantee it. He did say that if it did happen they wouldn't lose my business over the difference, so I assume they'd make it up.

They said my deposit is refundable if it all goes south at delivery. :/

Here's some unsolicited free advice: Don't believe anything a dealership says...

I found that out 5 years ago
I talked the showroom sales team into selling me a Ram out the door for $34,000
After the shyster in the Finance office finished with his indirect answers to questions & the quick shuffling of papers & Sign Here & here & here & here

I didn't see anything but $34,000, but somehow he added $7000 to the cost & that was before Licensing, taxes, & banks finance fees
:4-dontknow:

I still have all those sheets of papers that i signed & those sheets don't equate to the paper that i first received from the Credit Union, before i signed anything with them
