N00b question. First time I have ordered a truck. Do you have a chance to get the same incentives or negotiate when you put together your dream truck? Going through Truecar, Cars direct, and USAA buying service everything is about an in-stock truck.
Going to buy in the Atlanta area, anyone been treated well at a particular dealership?

Thanks!

some incentives are lockable when you order your truck and some are not. your can call Chrysler incentives and they can help you with what you qualify for and if you can lock them in. i don't remember the number but if you do a search on here you should be able to find it.

I think it depends on the dealer. In the San Antonio area one dealer said I would only know the incentives once the truck was in. I ordered from a different dealer who did lock the current incentives in (and in writing) and said if the incentives were better at the time of arrival then I could get the better price. Picked up my Limited Saturday and the incentives were the same in total price (just renamed). I got a little over 7K in incentives and another 1K off from the USAA incentive. The USAA incentive is good through 30JUN but my dealer was confident that it would be renewed. He said it's been around for quite awhile.

I had my trade appraised at CarMax prior to having it appraised by the Dodge dealer and I let them know that before they looked at my vehicle. They wanted to know the CarMax offer but I wouldn't share that info. To my surprise they offered exactly what CarMax offered so I was very pleased.

Good luck on your order!

I ordered a truck and I was still able to use my USAA car buying service to get 1K off plus the truecar pricing.

I bought a RAM and a Cherokee this weekend. The dealer offered me deals I just couldn't refuse. I too was going to order because I couldn't find an eco diesel I wanted and after doing the math of cost of fuel and cost per mile between the diesel and hemi, it wasn't that different so I opted for one on the lot with over $10,000 off the sticker price and a great trade value for my jeep rubicon.

I also understood that to be the case. But I found two dealers who told me they would honor the USAA deal and another who would honor the Costco deal even if I ordered what I wanted. All three deals included the factory incentives at the time of the order (except for the financing incentive,) or the incentives offered at time of delivery, whichever was better. They would only honor financing incentives in effect at time of delivery (currently $500 here.) I went with the Costco deal and my truck is close to delivery (ETA is this week.)

Unfortunately I've read on this forum about a few ****ed-up dealers who decided not to honor the price negotiated at the time of the order after the truck arrived. AFAIK these were not bought with a buying service.

Bottom line, don't be afraid to ask your dealer.

thanks guys. My journey so far:
Original dealer where I test drove: "we are no longer taking orders, you will need to wait a month".
My understanding is we have until 6/6/14
Called another dealer with USAA, talked to the rep and he said "yeah, I don't think we are doing any discounts with the eco's" - Poor decision, I need to get service once I buy it somewhere...
Third dealer said to come on down so we can enter and get the $500 to hold. Guess I am driving down today

I had reasonable success talking with a guy (Josh) from Voyles in Marietta but he has not returned any emails in a couple weeks about the EcoDiesel 1500s. Landmark in Stockbridge/Morrow has sold a few but the two buyers I talked to here in Peachtree City said they were sold at MSRP/window without any discounts. Not sure what you were ordering but they are the two bigger ones in the area. Courtesy salesman replied to my specific requests with the options listed with a 'this truck is close, might it fit your needs?' email so I dismissed them out right. My closest dealer is small and well let's say not nice to the customers right now so I stay polite.

Voyles is not taking orders, tried to give them my business. Going through Don Jackson, their ordering is down today but said they will take it over the phone and not ask for a deposit. Sounds weird they don't want money down...

Better luck than I had there, they wouldn't return any emails and didn't even know they had an EcoDiesel model on their lot last month so I wrote them off too. Not taking orders would explain his lack of emails but would be nice to here that in a reply. I've been emailing dealers in central/north Florida since they have had decent deals and could make the quick jump from ATL to most FL airports cheap and drive back. Plus flatlanders love their 2500/3500 diesels so they have a LOT on their lots and discount pretty big to get people in.

I'll keep checking in to see how they do, drive past everyday on my way to work so easy stop and Newnan was not helpful. Charging 2500 extra on a 2wd EcoDiesel Longhorn was too much for me, owner's decision and he's not budging apparently.

They can file everything with the state through most dealers down there and transfer my current tags over, reciprocal agreements between the states, same thing with Alabama. I just have to stop by the local tag office here with the receipt and the amount paid to get the registration printed. Two others would just do a dealer transfer to a local Ram lot if I wanted for $500.

I thought about buying a new Ram 1500 from Towbin Dodge in Las Vegas to save $$$, no state tax there

It turns out that when i register it in my town in southern California, i will have to pay State tax, County Tax, & City Tax. My city taxes are higher then all the rest of the towns right around it. Even Home Depot in my town charges more for a bag of concrete then the next closest Home Depot 6 miles away :(

Yeah, they have to get the right tax information for the current year in GA, luckily the tax is a straight percentage for everyone in all counties. And now just a sales tax, used to be a yearly tax so it was easier out of state. They used to sell it with GA temp tags, and you had to go in and pay the ad valorem at your county tax office to get your state tags. Now it's 6.75% of fair market value so easy for the dealer to add and send a check from the financed amount to the tax office.

For those that have dealerships that say that they can NO longer order Ram 1500s
I call BS

Almost every previous year, the Ram 1500 4 door Factory Order Banks have closed on May 30th & actual Production stopped in mid to late June

This year was scheduled to be the same, BUT things changed
Ram was voted 2 Truck of the Year Awards for 2013/2014, Silverado won the 3rd Award, 2014 North American Truck of the Year

Now Ram sales have sky rocketed, especially sales of the Eco Diesel, ( which Chrysler thought would never go big )
Ram sees another publicity advantage, 2014 Ram sales up XXX% because of this & that

So they have extended the last date for Ordering a 2014 Ram by at least a month, they even extended the Fleet Ordering dates, check out the DONLEN Fleet website
Fleet Order Banks close quicker then dealerships Order Banks & they Open later

Another factor is next years Truck of the Year awards

Ford pickups will be almost all aluminum bodied, so they can gain 700 LBS of Tow/Haul capacity over current models

More then one Brand of 2015 pickup will have 1/2 tons with Diesel engines, like the 5.0L Cummins
Also more Brands will have 7, 8, 9, & 10 speed auto transmissions
One brand will have a version of the 8 speed ZF 8HP70 auto transmission used in the 2013/2014 Ram

These things will affect the outcome of the 2015 Truck of the Year Awards

So the manager that was supposed to call has not at this point. Why is customer service so difficult for some businesses, and in the age of the internet they still think that screwing over a couple of potential customers has no ramifications (see what I did there).

That's basically what they did for me, I got one stock email and then nothing further, except for their Memorial Day savings event email. I'm trying to figure out where everyone in Atlanta gets their Rams cause there are a LOT of Rams on the roads here, mostly Express or Big Horns it seems.

So, no call back from two dealerships. Another one has an SLT for $50,000 firm, so not going to Jasper Jeep.
Guess I will play the waiting game now for the new F150, I'll bet Ram starts to discount the Eco before the F150 is released (later this summer I guess).
Are others playing the waiting game?
