Paint over chrome?

Hello,

I have recently come into possession of a used bumper. It's all chrome, which won't fit the design of the rest of the truck. Can you paint over chrome? Does it just need a primer of some sort so the paint will bond right?

Pretty much, Your best bet is to sand the hell out of it, followed with some self etching primer (the self etching part being key) Then paint as desired. I've done it to my rear bumper, both front bumpers, a chrome grill and chrome wheels.

Anything that is chrome you should treat it as any other bare metal. That includes plastic with chrome plating. Just need to rough it up and do the self etching primer as texas05ram stated.
